What Bill Clinton said on Larry King
"We're going to have to make this election about something real."

"(voters need to ask themselves) Who is on your side? Who is for your future? Who would be best for America and for the world? Who is going to bring back the American dream and define it in 21st century terms so that it's really achievable for people? And who is going to restore our standing in the world?"

“I just don’t believe that getting up here and hyperventilating about Gov. Palin, or Sen. McCain for that matter, is a productive use of a former president’s time and is not a vote-getter.”

"(Palin helps McCain, but) also helps Sen. Obama. When the Obama supporters -- the Democrats -- found out she lights a fire under the right and got McCain more money and more volunteers, then in turn, there was a reaction and Sen. Obama started raising more money and getting more volunteers."

"Because of the condition of the economy, because of the demographics of America growing more diverse, younger, more open to the diversity of the Democratic Party, and because Sen. Obama is, I think, not only charismatic, but really smart and a very disciplined candidate who has handled himself, I think, by and large remarkably well, I've always thought that in the end he would come out ahead."

"She (Senator Clinton) has done more than all other runner-ups have in the Democratic Party in 40 years. We have been quite clear on this. We're not party-wreckers, and we believe that the country needs to take a different course."

1. And why should anyone vote for Obama???
With all his blathering, he says nothing about why our candidate should win.

2. how could he have been any plainer?

Perhaps you wanted him to come out, foaming at the mouth, and waving Obama yard signs?

No thanks. I prefer calm and reasoned discourse.

7. He said absolutely nothing
In fact, he criticized Democrats who criticize Palin. And then, he has McCain at his CGI meeting???

He's worthless.

McCain is making the exact same case. Even McCain has co-opted the message of change.

Why can't Bill utter Obama's name once? Why can't he say Obama is the best candidate to change the course of this country, instead of discussing change in vague aspects? I mean, most Americans agree the country needs a new path and that hasn't given Obama a dominant lead and it's because there are those who still perceive McCain as an agent of change and Clinton's words do not help in changing that perception.

11. Clips of McCain at Clinton's Global Initiative
is beyond the pale. I have no idea what the hell Clinton was thinking.

14. Didn't Obama speak there too? I'm getting pretty fucking tired of certain assholes around here who
take every opportunity to fight the primary battles again and who parse everything Clinton says. GET OVER IT.

15. No
And I said during the primaries that my problem with the Clintons was well beyond the primaries - and that remains true. Regardless, I don't care if Obama were speaking at the CGI, the Republican candidate should not be. You would NEVER EVER EVER see Obama invited to speak at a Republican sponsored event.

3. I guess because Bill says "I've always thought that in the end
he would come out ahead." Wowee zowee. Sign me up.

And equating any criticism of McSame's policies with "hyperventilating" is really quite disgusting.

It would be so meaningful to people if he had instead echoed what Kerry said at the convention by letting us know how much that old maverick McSame has changed. Instead, he has seemed to imply that McBombBomb is still a maverick.

Very confusing to a fellow Democrat.

4. I would say that Howard Dean and Wes Clark at least as good a surrogate -
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 01:50 PM by karynnj
and that was one cycle ago. They were on talk shows backing Kerry very often. Dean even debated Nader for Kerry.

5. He was a surrogate for McCain..
If he thinks that Hillary will run in 2012 and she will get my vote he has another thing coming...

6. Starting to seem a little forced
I've always liked Bill Clinton, but I have to say he does seem less than ecstatic about Obama.

And yeah... "hyperventilating" ... don't belittle those of us who are outraged by McSame's crap and how much of a JOKE Palin is. I swear I'd move to Canada if that dumb bitch was our president.

Maybe it's just Clinton's disposition, but he seems too calm about the trainwreck that is the republican party and McCain.

12. He just does this because he loves us.
It's our fault that he had to do this. We should have agreed to the town hall meetings.
