A good reason why you should be excited, yet very, very cautious
http://election.princeton.edu/history-of-electoral-votes-for-obama/

The Princeton Meta Analysis right now shows Obama with a 297 EV win, with 238 of those labeled as "safe". That's great news, especially since this model correctly predicted the 2004 outcome, pretty much on the money.

Now the bad news: If you click on the +2% McCain link under the "State by State Maps" section on the right, you'll see a much different picture. Under that scenario, if John McCain somehow got a two point bump in each state, the game changes to a 269-259 McCain lead, with Minnesota in the balance.

This serves to indicate that although a lot of the polling models show big Obama wins right now, that any major event (October surprise, anyone?) could drastically turn this election on its head.

Bottom line: Be very excited, but realize that we have a boatload of work left to do, folks. Keep working, keep donating, keep volunteering!

1. And don't forget to support your democratic candidates for senator,
congressional rep, state senator, etc. They need your help too. Obama can't work miracles and needs a stellar team in place.

2. Absolutely!
Hopefully by doing one, you're doing the other, as you tend to have a lot of straight-ticket ballots in Presidential elections, but it never hurts to be deliberate about it!

4. Great info. I just recovered (finally!) from pneumonia and am knocking on doors like crazy
this weekend.

We gotta win this.
