Unbelievable considering in 2004 our county voted 62.4% for Bush and only 37% for Kerry. The biggest winning percentage in ANY US county population 1 million+

And we haven't finished registering people. We still have until Oct. 6 to sign up more voters.

We have a lot to make up for concerning our past transgressions.

Can I get a :woohoo:

edit: added stars to title

I was really surprised and extremely thrilled by the numbers. We are trying really hard to Turn Tarrant BLUE.

I'm in Texas, btw in case you were wondering where Tarrant County is located. Fort Worth is our county seat.

5. Texas gained 1 - 2 million new voters in the last 3 years most of em from the coast states. I think
...that's why Obama has been seen single digits behind McLame in the polls at times.

If we can turn Fort Worth blue that means this state can be turned blue

6. We are working on it
At our meeting we were discussing how to target certain districts to make sure they are registered and that they go vote on election day.

There were probably close to a hundred people at the meeting, there will be another meeting on Thursday.

The Tarrant Obama group was created all the way back in November 06. I didn't even know about until the primaries, and I have been attending every event they have. It is an inspiring group of people.

All colors, ages, and enthusiastic people.

Wish us LUCK in changing the sins of our past. We need it.

9. Wooo-hooo!!!
Yay Tarrant!!!!!!

I went to an Obama meeting last week in Collin County and we were told that as of that night 23,000 new voters had been registered! And, like you all, that doesn't include the number registered from that night until Oct 6th!! Let's hear it for volunteer deputy registrars (and everyone else) at voter reg. drives!
The vol. deputy registrars can sign anyone up to vote, anywhere, anytime. A meeting I went to a month ago had someone from the county attending and she swore attendees in as volunteer deputy registrars so it is not like people had to take time out of their weekly schedule to head over to the county election office to get sworn in.
I would love to hear Dallas County registration numbers. They are going to be registering people at the TX State Fair and also at the Cotton Bowl game. Talk about a gold mine of potential voters!

These county stats are going to add up...Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Travis, Denton..and every county in between!!

11. Wow, State Fair and the Cotton Bowl, is definitely a Gold Mine
I also wonder what the total numbers are for Tarrant. I'm hoping to add to those totals, since I'm a Deputy Registrar.

I think our ground game is going to be a Big Surprise come November. Hopefully Texas will become a Swing State.

Turning from red, to Purple, to BLUE.:woohoo:

12. More TX stats---400,000 new voters since primaries!

Update: El Paso reports that they are seeing a 25% increase in their total voter registration rates, in large part due to a sustained effort since 2 years ago that is now 80% towards it's goal of 50,000 new registered voters there. More good news.

Update 2: Wichita County reports voter reg is on the rise and it's been "the younger people".

Update 3: In San Antonio, officials are predicting between 67-70% countywide turnout and voter registration totals are about to top the 910,000 peak from 2004.

And people have been registering ever since. Texas already has passed the registered voter total recorded in 2004, 13.1 million. Since the March 4 primary, some 400,000 voters have registered statewide.
The state's six largest counties, including Bexar, have added 161,779 voters since the primaries, including 21,659 in Bexar, according to the secretary of state. Harris County alone accounts for 62,286.
