Many aircraft are "forced down" by weather or mechanical malfunction in the US every year.

No aircraft in the US are "forced down" by anti-aircraft fire, and only a handful are 'forced down' by fighter planes telling them to land or else.

(When anti-aircraft fire hits you and you end up on the ground the usual term is "shot down.")

I deem the Biden 'gaffe' a Potemkin-Tusla, though he was a little more dramatic than I would prefer. (One could take the impression that he was describing being shot down or grounded due to enemy fire.)

I hope Hagel will have Biden's back on this one.
