Obama should consider sending Biden, Bill & Hillary into West Virginia, I smell upset
West Virginia was at one time one of the most dependably democratic states in the union. Between 1932 and 2000 it voted Democratic for president in every election, save two, the GOP landslides of 1972 and 1984. Even Michael Dukakis won the state. For some reason that changed in 2000 and 2004 with the state going for GW Bush.

After the clobbering Obama took in WVA during the primary, losing by better than 40-points, I was ready to write off the state again, but recent polling indicates that Obama is running close to McCain in WVA.

ARG just released a poll of likely voters taken 9/14-16 giving McCain a 49-45 point lead.

The West Virginia pollster Blankenship, released a poll taken 9/5-8, at the height of McCain's convention bounce and gave the GOP ticket a hardly overwhelming 44-39 percent lead.

I think the Clinton's, Bill in particular, and Biden should schedule a few campaign trips to the state. It wouldn't hurt Obama to maybe visit too. I think we could pull WVA five electoral votes out from under McCain. WVA is a culturally conservative state, but economically liberal, and with hard times, I can see it returning to its democratic roots.

2. My partner is from WV and he swears that WV will go blue this year
Says they've had too many hard times before and this last 8 years will seal the deal. I think Bill should go there too.

3. I understand there are lots of fundamentalist/evangelicals in WVA. Tough to break
through that.
