Once Elected, Palin Hired Friends and Lashed Foes
By JO BECKER, PETER S. GOODMAN and MICHAEL POWELL

This article is by Jo Becker, Peter S. Goodman and Michael Powell.

WASILLA, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.

So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as a qualification for running the roughly $2 million agency.

Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

When Ms. Palin had to cut her first state budget, she avoided the legion of frustrated legislators and mayors. Instead, she huddled with her budget director and her husband, Todd, an oil field worker who is not a state employee, and vetoed millions of dollars of legislative projects.

And four months ago, a Wasilla blogger, Sherry Whitstine, who chronicles the governor’s career with an astringent eye, answered her phone to hear an assistant to the governor on the line, she said.

4. She is Bush the darker sequel
This needs to be spread far and wide. I copied and pasted the entire article, sent it to a bunch of friends and encouraged them to do likewise.

5. Did McCain actually vet her? Yes!
I believe that the McCain camp could care less about her total lack of qualifications to be president. They have taken Rove's advice and have chosen a person that will deliver the evangelical and Catholic vote. A women who refused to abort a child with Down syndrome. They opted for the perfect candidate to deliver that segment of the Republican voters that McCain was in jeopardy of losing. This factor overrides every piece of information that reveals that she and her family are nothing more than trash. Unfortunately, the people that would not be impressed with her choice and see her as a dangerous ideologue are those that don't show up at the polls in the same numbers as the religious right wingers. If the younger people don't show up, then get ready for four more years of the PNAC neo-cons. McCain has surrounded himself with the very same people that have gotten our nation into this disastrous mess; the PNAC neo-cons and once again the media is totally ignoring the most important aspect of this campaign. If McCain dies in office, Palin would be nothing more than willing putty in their hands just as the brainless chimp was their puppet.
