After I was willing to put my life on the front line for America. My opponent used his Daddy's influence to get in the National Guard with the intent to not put his life on the line for his country. They have stood by silently as their surrogates badmouth and slander every veteran that ever fought for this country, by minimizing Purple Hearts and other military awards. The media handed them a megaphone and said help yourself. This has had a negative impact on my fellow veterans and on the nation as a whole. They are too divisive. They have crossed the line that we can no longer tolerate.
Mr O'Neill, the Swift Boat vet, worked with Richard Nixon to try and discredit me back in 1971. Now, it appears that this group in the White House, headed by Karl Rove, have recruited him again to try and discredit me further. It is paramount that America understand where this gentleman is coming from and where he started his political smears. He has lied continuously to the point that he now believes his own lies.
As for Mr Bush, he has been a failure as president of this country. And he takes his biggest failure and brags about it like it is a Silver Star or a worthy award. He has utterly destroyed the fiscal structure of our economy and we will reap a whirlwind if he is voted in for four more years. We cannot afford the promises of safety for the radical policies he plans for our country.
We probably have one more chance to try and save Social Security for the Baby Boomers that are about to retire. Mr Bush has plans, which he will announce his intent Thursday night, to radically reform Social Security to make it part of Wall Street investment schemes. He will make an appealing case to the younger workers of America. But, I'm here to tell them that he is a snake oil salesman. Do not sacrifice our commitment to our elderly for the insane and simple solutions from simple-minded leaders. Protect our Social Security system.
Mr Bush and the Republicans prefer to smear the personal reputations of their opponents - rather than talk about the issues that are important to America. That is their nature. They cannot help themselves. But America does not have to accept their negative attacks and we do not have to accept their premise of fear. Mr Bush is a fearful and paranoid person by his nature and he leads from his heart. America can do better and deserves better. Do not lower your standards to those of George W Bush.
