Courage and Confidence
God! I am so sick of the negative whining here on DU!

No wonder it's so hard to get a Dem in the White House. Every year it's the same bullshit. We have a good candidate, but the Dem rank and file whine and fret over every bad newscycle, undermine the morale of our troops on the ground and second guess the candidate to death. These numb nuts have spent the last 8 years bellyaching endlessly for a change and hear comes change on a silver fucking platter for them, but they choose instead to spend all summer tearing the candidate apart for every little decision he's made that didn't pass their personal purity test, being pissy because their candidate didn't win the primary, then when the chips are down for the moment, they say assinine things like, "I don't think our leaders want to win." -No Asshole, YOU don't want to win, because deep down in your gut, you are a coward and a loser and the concepts of victory and achievement are so alien and terrifying to you, you'd rather sabotage yourself, your cause and your country because it's just some much more comfortable to stay in the familiar place: being the loser.

It's been this mentality that has sabotaged every effort to wrestle our country away from the grip of the Corporate Rethugs for years, and those of us who are ready to see a real change, those of us who've tasted triumpth a few, fleeting but infinitely valuable times in our own life and know that it is possible if only you can hope beyond hope and be willing the give the very best of what you've got in you -those of us who understand that you cannot win if you do not know how to step onto the battlefield with confidence, We want this fight, and we don't want it torn from our grasp by the very people who are supposedly on our own side. We have the guts to suffer a brutal defeat and get right back the fuck up and charge headlong into the jaws of the beast all over again without a second of doubt: the cause for which we fight is so much more important that our own silly egos and ultimately it is the confidence and hope that we feel that gives us the strength to achieve this victory that you have so cerimoniously proclaimed out of reach-if you don't have confidence, if you don't believe, but you honestly want Obama to win, maybe you should step aside, if the only thing you know how to do is spread your damn defeatism, which at this point is the most deadly poison our cause could possibly face, because you are not being the champion of your supposed cause, but the poisoner of it.

Stand aside and let the more intrepid spirits among us wage the fight on your behalf, since obviously you don't have the guts to face down the mighty and wicked forces we are up against. Go home and drink your own poison in silence and resignation. Nothing is more worthless than a coward these days, though the enemy sees some worth in you. He sees you and your filthy cowardice as a means to his victory, which would mean the doom of all you love-are you not yet ashamed?

Luckily for the human race, there are still a few of us who do not need the promise of victory to keep on fighting, only the knowledge of the valour and righteousness of our cause.

Some of us still refuse to go quietly into that good night.

history has never belonged to the weak of spirit, or those ready for defeat. History belongs to those strange men and women who in their day were called audacious fools, even lunatics, but who in truth carried the banner of all human decency and wisdom and defended it from insurmountable odds, armed with little more than their courage and confidence.

If you have problems understanding what I'm talking about. Sit down for a chat with a vet.
