I went to bed last night worried about this election for the first time in months, but I feel somewhat better today.
It seems increasingly likely that the bizarre USA Gallup poll (McCain up 10?) was an outlier. They never revealed how they teased out a "likely voter". Other polls out today reveal McCain ahead within the MOE. PPP has Obama up 1 in Michigan (some damage yes, but not catastrophic), Survey USA has McCain up only 2 in Virginia, which is only a point better than the last time they polled VA. I can assure you all that Obama has a far superior ground game in Michigan, as well as the unions, who will have their own election day operation. Finally, Rasmussen polled a bunch of swing states and the only one that worries me a bit is Ohio, where McCain is up 7. But I was also very pleased to see that Obama's lead in Colorado held (+3), and Florida is an exact tie. McCain needs Florida much more than Obama does. Obama leads in PA by 2. That's just noise from the GOP convention bounce.
