Why Does Criticizing the Obama Campaign Mean You're Panicking?
I personally thought the campaign was being too soft even when they were up 6 or so points. Panicking is a mental state that you can't possibly infer simply because someone criticizes an individual.

1. It's a good point. They aren't equivalent.
But don't assume for a second that many of the "panic" posts here aren't utterly, transparently phony. They are.

2. It's group think 101. But let's just put our fingers in our ears and drown out any voices
that might suggest we're not heading toward yet another landslide Democratic Presidential victory!

4. Apples and oranges.
Nobody in their right mind would suggest that this will necessarily be a landslide victory, but a huge proportion of the recent "concern" posts have been bogus, and I think you know it. At least, I hope you do.

5. Some of these posts are by trolls.
Some are by Chicken Littles.

Some are by people who'd rather re-litigate the primaries than get behind the ticket, because they're busy daydreaming about some mythical 2012 scenario.

Some are by people who are just so rattled after the last horrendous 8 years that they have no hope left. And this last group, I don't find fault with at all. I just want to see them able to muster up a little positive visualization about November. We need it. Right now.

7. I gotta ask...
How often do you volunteer at your local Obama headquarters? If you haven't visited them you need to rush on down because they really need your help.

9. That's off-topic but
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 08:36 AM by Bonn1997
Right now, I've donated to the campaign may times even though I have little money. I always canvass on election day too. Right now my job has me teaching 3 college courses I've never taught before and budgeting my time is hard. This is getting even more off-topic but I am giving some thought to doing a fundraiser. I haven't looked into it that closely yet, but if it's possible I'd like to run in a local marathon and get people to sponsor me knowing that the money would go to Sen. Obama. Note that I live in Alabama (not near any swing states unless you count Georgia).

10. Because if you have criticisms and are an Obama team player, you share these ideas ON SITE
not "this site" but Obama's campaign site. Send an email to one of his representatives.

However, by nitpicking on an political discussion board, you are solving NOTHING at best, and giving ammunition to our opponents, at worst. :(

11. A lot of DU'ers don't watch the CNN, Faux, MSNBC pundits spew their lies.
And who needs to read them here?

12.  Maybe we should have
an Obama Campaign Sucks forum, where all the concerned 'supporters' can bitch about what everyone else, except for themselves, is doing. There they can work themselves up into a frenzy over what someone said on the tv. The only value pissing and moaning has is the feel good gotten by the giver.

13. Many people manage their own panic by lashing out at others as "panicked"
