DONT PANIC!
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 12:16 AM by demwing

McCain may be leading in the national polls, but isn't that expected? He just picked a VP that increased his support in all the states where he already lead. Palin did nothing to bring McCain support from the middle, or support from swing states where he hasn't already established a margin of success. All McCain has accomplished is to make MORE of the folks who would have voted for him anyway, admit that they'll vote for him!

The proof of this is in the EC map. If McCain was making REAL progress, the map would be getting steadily more red. It is not.

In fact, most EC Map followers show Obama making steady gains, pushing his EC Vote advantage further and further, and the map goes bluer than Queens blood each day.

So DON"T PANIC!

Grab your towell, kick out another $25 bucks for Obama, and tell your friends and family to register early, stop listening to FOX, and this year to please put their country first, and vote for real change.

Edited because my first graphic was too freaking huge!

5. And be careful of national polls
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 09:27 AM by demwing
McCain could take 75% in the Red states, hit 35% in all the blue and swing states, be ahead in the nationals, and easily lose the election.

6. I am glad they chose Palin instead of Romney or Huckabee,
They were going to get a bump when they chose the VP anyways, but I would rather have an unknown, such as Palin, who knows nothing and is now busy taking a crash course to go against Biden on the debates, than someone like Romney or Huckabee who would of also brought the polls up. While Obama and Biden are campaigning separately, Palin is still not ready to campaign solo or ready for the media. We need to get that out!! Sarah is being tutored on "How to Become President in 60 Days".

7. We have to watch for new state polls but panicking over a convention bounce is ridiculous.
I do expect the state polls to shift some. Even in contested states.

But McCain's convention bounce so far is SMALLER than Obama's. Obama's been ahead for most of the race - just like Bush was four years ago. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!

If you're anxious, get to work. Don't throw in the towel. And don't pretend that posting your discouraging crap here is somehow going to "help" the campaign.

9. Thanks and one note from a local yokel.
I live in CT and travel all over New England.

In re NH: No recent-polling, but probably solidly in our camp now. It's the truly-libertarian part of New England...they like the GOP because they like low taxes and personal freedoms. It's leaned blue in recent elections...Sununu is getting destroyed by Shaheen in the Senate race and that helps us. They (NH GOPers) however tend to be for maximum personal freedoms and anti-spending: anti-gun-control, against the war (because it isn't free), lower taxes, pro-choice.

One wins NH by being an economic populist and strong on rights. McCain isn't. They tend to be skeptical of ideologies as well...including religious conservatism. New England has frowned on wearing your God on your sleeve since Revolutionary War times.

Palin might as well be a millstone. McCain's appeal was the absence of someone like Sarah Palin on the ticket. We're still leading the economy issue.
