(The Obama Campaign) Name one thing
you have already done or plan on doing for the Obama campaign. I had a list of 7 non-registered twenty something young people who were not registered to vote. Four are now registered and I have three to go. I will also be calling them on election day to make certain they voted. I also purchased 20 of the new oval magnetic bumper stickers and several yard signs and will be giving them to folks who promise to display them. I already have waiting lists. I have also sent more money to this campaign than I can afford. I know this isn't a big deal in terms of time commitment and there are others here making much larger contributions in terms of time and money but I am trying. What are you doing?

1. We've donated $500 and I just signed up for Camp Obama!!
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 05:11 PM by Shine
OMG, I just signed up for Camp Obama!! Assuming they actually accept my application (I had to create a resume for the first time in 15 yrs, LOL!), I'm looking to participate in the 9/27-28 training weekend in Santa Clara County. It's a bit of a commitment, but it's also very short-lived and could be a great way to contribute towards some REAL CHANGE. Their Get Out the Vote groundwork in swing states is going to be critical in this upcoming election. Anyone else interested in joining me?

:woohoo:

On edit: We also have Obama '08 magnets on our two cars and a HUGE Obama '08 banner tied to our corner eucalyptus tree, that reads: HOPE, ACTION, CHANGE. It's got great exposure! It was the very first Obama sign to go up in our neighborhood and now there are a few other Obama yardsigns up, as well.

We've also got our Obama campaign pins, too, that I got at our local Dem headqtrs. I signed up with them to make phone banking calls, too.

All in all, I feel like I've done a lot, thank you very much! I am motivated to participate because I personally resonate with his themes of Unity, Change and Hope. I believe we can make a difference if we work together and I hope to model to my children a commitment towards a better future for them and for ALL of us!

2. I am doing plenty
I am going to fund raisers (2 in the past 2 weeks, four in the next 4)
I am registering voters (53 so far)
I am talking to people I know who are on the fence (that's only one, but I don't think there are more than a couple more)
I am working election day, as usual, as my town's Democratic Party election custodian (setup and take down machines).
I am following all of the news.
I am working phone banks in the coming weeks, but not election day, as I am predisposed to making sure that the machines work.
I am putting up a lawn sign.
I am in several forums like this, talking about it.
I have written letters to the regional and local news outlets.
I have called into radio shows on the local stations.

Then again, I am single, and my house is a mess, but this is more important.

4. Here goes
I have made hundreds of ID calls, given dozens of referrals to the team, provided food and beverages, held a Barackfast (breakfast) for my neighborhood, loaned the local team cleaning supplies for HQ, worked at an Obama appearance in my county, attended a strategy session with the state team, attended Obama events. Notice - I no longer have a DU star. My money is going to candidates. Don't give me one. Donate. Donate. Donate.

P.S. In my other life I work to reelect my congressman and help local candidates.

9. I have several friends in NH who I intend to call to talk about Obama
I think I might be able to sway a couple of them, the others not so much. I live in MA and I'm trying to find out if there are any plans to carpool up to NH to canvas, as we did for the Kerry campaign. Nobody seems to know anything, but tomorrow I'm going to a Dem debate for a local (state) office and I will seek out the head of our town DTC to ask him what's up.

11. .
I'm writing the media, and donating as much as I possibly can. Since I have a facial disfigurement, and speech difficulties, I'm not in the public much, nor can I talk well on the phone, so my efforts are restricted.
