surreal moment in Palin speech: she spoke honestly about oil geopolitics...
in Russia, Iran, & Georgia.

What she said about it was an inaccurate assessment of what's going on, but at least she said it which is more than nearly all Republicans or even most Democrats will do.

Maybe Obama & Biden could use that as permission to break the taboo themselves and put oil front and center in their foreign policy discussions:

''Our choice is clear. We can either rapidly switch to non-carbon forms of energy or continue to be the hostage to oil companies who demand that we use our military to give them control over the world's dwindling oil supplies. One path will create jobs, clean the environment, and lead to a more stable world. Or we can continue on the Bush administration path is bankrupting our nation, killing our troops, and over a million Iraqis so far, and risking a world war. I think we ought to put Armageddon on hold and clean up our act instead.''
