20. Frances has dropped to a Cat. 3 and may not strengthen again
That's still 125 mile an hour winds, though, and not to be taken lightly.

It looks to be aimed at Georgia, at the moment, but could easily hit anywhere from Central Florida to South Carolina.

2. Frances Won't Reach Land Til Around Saturday. However, Gaston Might Merge
with another storm and cause heavy weather here in NY.

Could I get you to move your arrow a little bit? Right now it is pointing RIGHT AT WHERE I LIVE! I am getting tired of being the bullseye for major hurricanes. :-(

16. Weather channel says
"The remains of Gaston and Hermine could give a quick one-two punch to southeast New England on Tuesday."

Maybe that is the one the poster above said might merge with the remnants of Gaston.

Weather channel shows more weather like today for NY city.

10. While I loved living near the beach, it's times like these
that I'm really happy to be living in the middle of the continent.

6 years at Ponte Vedra Beach, 2 forced evacuation several more terrifying scares.

Hurricane season will make you crazy.

12. It might kill the bounce
by stealing the media - karmic retribution for the bogus "alerts" right after the Democratic convention.

Either way, many of us here in SC have our eye on that one too. Those Atlantic storms have a tendency to come ashore further north than expected. Gaston coming by today wasn't that bad (for humans, anyway), but Frances could be.

At any rate, it looks like it'll hit somewhere next weekend. And the rnc will take a back seat in media coverage. I think that's a safe bet.

15. But the media is obsessed with reporting on the "BIG STORM"
as it approaches.

Knocks the RNC crap off the top of the obsession list.
