Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 08:31 PM by seabeyond
cause is texas. talking to husband that texas repugs only at 51%? that isnt too far off. and if we went into poor neighborhoods sure are a lot. he said, just get the mexicans to vote, bush would lose. now that would just be the biggest ass kickin if bushie lost texas. nothin would be better than that

so why are we not having an ochrestrated effort here. or are we and i dont know. and does anyone think texas has a chance

thoughts appreciated

looking at trips into colorado though, especially if it is part of the traveler group

1. I'm in Texas also and believe me, after a few years...
Texas will become a swing state. Black, Hispanics and white Democrats will outnumber the conservatives. I'm looking to the future.

2. Texas had a Dem governer not too far back
So I guess anything's possible, but I wouldn't expect you guys to go Kerry this time around. Texas is Bush's alledged home state.

3. Call up your local Democratic party-if there isn't one in your county
look at your surrounding counties. Who's running for office for your district? Call up his/her office and ask them if they need volunteers, including block watching, calling, etc.

If you don't see action in your county, you can also do things yourself. Go get signed up as a deputy registrar and find out about manning a voter registration table in your town.

4. Too many Texas Hispanics vote Repug.
Don't forget Chimpy got almost half the Hispanic vote in his second Gubernatorial run.

Texas will SLOWLY tend more Democratic, but it's a long term process. It will take at least a decade to get back to breakeven.

5. Yeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.
You're having a conversation that can move
to action. Do it. Go to those neighborhoods
and register voters. One person can make the
difference.

What can you lose?

6. I'm in TX too
and I am looking at spending some weekends soon in either Arkansas or Louisiana.

As for here, Kerry doesn't have really any official organization here (why would he?) but don't worry--Dems and Independents and unhappy Republicans are mobilized here.

Gore got 39% of the vote in TX in 2000. Think about it: if Kerry only increases that by 10%, we're talking 49%. Yee-freaking-HA!!!

That'll get those elected reps in TX to crap their britches.

I've been predicting TX will be light pink for a while. We'll see.

7. IMHO Kerry is making a mistake not running in Texas
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 08:54 PM by Florida_Geek
I do not think he could win but it would be neck in neck IMHO...

Plus with bush's big win over Gore there, if they were neck in neck in the polls .... it would hurt Bush all over the country.

9. No
We WANT him in those swing states, damnit. We don't want him spending time and money in Texas.

We got it. We're working hard and have been. Don't you worry. I want KErry in the swing states.

10. There's hope for Texas
but I think there's no chance for this election. I don't think the DLC is even spending money here. I agree that it's just a matter of time before we become a borderline state. It's very hard to wait while the state is over-run with so many repukes trying to ruin things though.
