The 2008 Republican Convention's Message To Moderate and Independent Voters
Drop dead.

This is a party for social conservatives only, and only social conservatives issues will matter.

Forget Iraq, forget Iran, forget the housing crisis, the credit crisis, education, foreign policy, the environment, international trade, health care, jobs, the budget deficit, and any other issue.

This party only cares about the fertilized human egg, guns, and hatred of gays.

3. I Think That It's Coming Across Loud and Clear
McCain is leaving the independents for Obama. In 2000, the Independents were almost evenly divided. In 2004, Bush used "Terra! Terra! Terra!". This year, Independents want change, and the Republicans are not giving it to them. All that the Repubs are doing is pandering to their base over and over again.

4. Recall the 2000 Republican Convention
At least in that one, they made an attempt to build up their diversity, and they made a much bigger plea to the independent voters.
