How Would You Rank The Top Five Attacks On McCain's Choice Of Palin In Order Of Effectiveness?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 03:34 PM by Median Democrat
Here is my ranking of the Top 5 attacks for Palin.

The most conspicuous absense for me is Palin's daughter's baby, since really can't attribute it to Palin, and Obama has essentially taken the issue off the table. Also, I still need more information about the AIP, since it happened so long ago, that there is nothing really concrete linking her specifically to advocating the independence of Alaska.

1. Palin's image as a reformer is a fraud, since she supported the bridge to nowhere when she was campaigning for Governor and Alaska has not returned the money, but just spent it on other stuff, and as Mayor, Palin pushed for the receipt of federal money through the earmarks that McCain allegedly condemns.

2. Palin's economic success was due to a windfall profit tax that she imposed on oil companies that is similar to the one proposed by Obama, but opposed by McCain. Thus, her alleged crusade against special interests merely means that she adopted a Democratic proposal similar to Obama's.

3. The pick was rash and dicated by the Christian Right over qualified pro-choice candidates Joe Lieberman and Tom Ridge, and McCain's judgment and backbone are seriously called into question due to his failure to properly vet Palin.

4. Palin is neither qualified nor experienced, since she spent most of her career as a mayor of a town with a population of 7,000, and she outsourced her executive responsibilites by hiring a City Manager.

5. Palin is a christian right extremist who is pro-creationism, anti-choice, denies global warming, is against contraception, and against sex education in schools.

1. I'd say McCain's judgment for choosing her in the first place.
The vice presidency is serious business. He appears to be treating it like a marginal entertainment.

3. What cross-cuts each of these is that she is pro-ignorance.

5. Just hammer this one home:
5. Palin is a christian right extremist who is pro-creationism, anti-choice, denies global warming, is against contraception, and against sex education in schools.

These are the reasons MCCain picked her. For the fundy vote.

4. Add her anti-environment, anti-animals, record
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 03:39 PM by VCubed
Good list, I'd put #2 as #1, and combine #5 w/#3, and add: Palin is anti-environment, anti-animal rights. She spent $400,000 of AK tax dollars to oppose listing polar bears as an endangered species despite all the evidence to the contrary, in order to clear the way for drilling in ANWR. She worked to push thru legislation for the brutal inhumane aerial hunting of wolves and bears (wasting lots of fuel chasing them down in planes!), and she lets her small daughter see the moose she shot - apparently with a military weapon - with a huge bloody gouge in its neck - disturbing video below:

6. I Don't Disagree, But The PETA Crowd Isn't Voting For McCain To Begin With
I don't know whether any undecided or moderates are going to be making their decision based on the fact that she is not pro-environment, particularly since Alaska is not (currently) polluted. I don't think her lack of environmental and endangered species credentials cracks the top five.

This is just my opinion.
