(I apologize in advance for 1. Starting yet another thread of what will likely number in the thousands today on Bristol Palin's teen pregnancy; and, 2. Bringing filth to DU -- but, oh the irony, it was for a better cause, imho)

Edited to add this: As a sibling of a sister who endured much criticism from folks like Sarah Palin herself who espouse the belief that sex education and birth control for teens are "no-no's", I say ENOUGH! While Bristol Palin will unfortunately now endure much unwanted publicity for this, her mother should've thought about that before she accepted this outrageous VP nomination. It calls to question her hypocrisy, her fanaticism, and the broader conflict that is often missed in these discussions: that unwanted teenage pregnancies are not solved by abstinence only sex education, by denying contraception to sexually active teens, by preaching their fundamental religiosity or by their 'holier than thou' attitudes.

if it was her daughter's pregnancy and she covered it up, that would actually be better than if she had flown all the way back to Podunk, Alaska while in labor with a Downs syndrome child.
