Oh hell no....just listened to a John McCain message on my voice mail
He said he was reaching out to independent minded voters like me. Then he said he hoped I would watch the convention tomorrow. Then he said he sent me an absentee ballot in the mail and that it should arrive soon. I think then he said he wants to make sure my vote is counted (something like that). They better take my number off their damn list! Oh and by the way I live in Williamsburg, Virginia.

1. How can he send anyone an absentee ballot?
Only election offices can do that.

3. Wow! If you get anything from him, take it straight to your county elections department
You can't get an absentee ballot anywhere, AFAIK, without specifically requesting one.

5. I will absolutely do that if I get it. I would love to get the McCain camp in trouble for breaking
the rules. I think I might even email the Obama campaign to let them know what are up to in VA.

7. Maybe, just maybe.....
You show up at the polling place on election day and you are told, "But you received an absentee ballot."
How would they know you hadn't sent it in?

16. Why would the a Republican candidate want to send an absentee ballot to a registered Democrat?
Some kind of bait and switch? Assuming it ever comes, you definitely need to take it to your Secretary of State for validation.

14. is it possible he said application for an absentee ballot?
I don't see in VA law where it prohibits others from distributing applications.

But I'm not in Va so I wouldn't trust my quick legal research.

15. Are you female?
I just got the same call. Laughed Out Loud (or LOL) all through it. I always wonder if there's someone at the other end (or a recorder) of these calls.

I'm wondering if these calls are going to females to test the waters for Palin?

I'm looking forward to getting something I can send back on his dime. Usually a postage paid envelope comes with whatever a candidate sends. Surely it's not a real ballot? I can't imagine that that would be legal. I'll take it to my local Board of Elections if it is an actual ballot.
