The "Sarah Palin is a moron" meme is dangerous
Remember what happened in 2000 when we (correctly) labeled someone as a moron?

If we help set low expectations for her, then when the public sees her putting 2 sentences together, they're damned impressed.

1. Exactly. What's important is that she's dangerous and vile.

2. She's not a moron, she's just wrong for america
She was afforded the choice of abortion, but wants to take that choice away from all women, even in cases of rape, incest, and when the women's health is in danger.

She is against Health Care for All Americans, even though not having it forces other women with Downs Syndrome children to barely see their children and put them in day cares because they're forced to work long hours or lose their health care.

She doesn't believe in science, feels that creationism should be taught in science class, and that the thousands of scientists who assure us that man made climate change is real are incorrect.

She claims fiscal conservatism, but took over a mayoral office of a town of 5,000 with a balanced budget and left it over 20 million dollars in debt (over 3,000 per person).

and on...and on....

she's wrong for america based on her issues and positions, not anything else.

3. Thanks for the concern
I've seen many threads about inexperience and pregnancy but don't recall any about moranity. I'm sure your concern is justified and well founded of course!

14. Well since I'm now on
this person's ignore list I'm sure it won't be read but that never stopped me before!

I never called you a troll, I never called you an asshole.

I never misused you user name through an inappropriate and deliberate misspelling.

I never used the F word in a post to you (although I may have used it elsewhere).

I am however proud to have you put me on your ignore list, I'm sure to be in good company!

Oh and if you want to tell me to "Shut the F**k Up" the correct usage is STFU not STF.

4. I wish more people would pay attention to this. She only has to say one smart thing in the debate...
...and they're going to fall all over her, saying she's just as smart as Biden.

7. Plenty of educated-sounding people are morons
Anyone who can blindly accept creationism is one.

It's not dangerous -- it's just the truth.

8. you are right this could backfire
i.e. our current pres, quayle, etc... then the spin turns around that it is us who are just elitist and ss not in touch with the "regular" folks... I have thought the same thing about attacking Alaska. I spent about a year there... beautiful fabulous place. Of course it is very red but my impression of people were that they thought of themselves as highly independent types. In fact I think alot of Ross Perot voters were among them... so even if she is a total moron, to attack on that level and think that the American people will totally be persuaded could be dangerous

10. Bush I was running on a very popular president's coattails.
He could afford to pick the dumb-but-young and pretty guy.

McSame is running on Bush II's coattails. It won't work this time.

12. She's ignorant more than anything else.
She apparently doesn't know squat outside of Alaska.

13. I agree
I just want to be sure that when we all go back to our watercoolers (as Thom Hartmann might say) on Tuesday, we don't use "moron".

"ignorant of things outside of Alaska", I think, is much safer.

15. The point is, THAT DOESN'T MATTER. In fact, by promoting it, WE HELP THE OTHER SIDE...
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 12:00 PM by ClassWarrior
...by lowering expectations. Yes, calling the other guys "stupid" helps the insecure among us feel superior, but it lowers expectations in the minds of the public and makes us look arrogant.

She could have the intelligence level of a bottle of ketchup, BUT WHAT MATTERS IS THE FACT THAT SHE'S A POWER-ABUSER AND A MORAL SCOLD, AND THAT'S WRONG FOR AMERICA.

Got it now?

NGU.
