All the MSM will be shocked at how well Palin does in the VP debate.
Because the technology for ear pieces and wireless transmitters is SO much more advanced than it was in the Kerry/Bush debate. There won't be any wires to draw suspicion this time.

1. They'll need to implant some sort of voice-changing device . . .
To modify that shrill burr that makes the dogs in my house howl.

4. Too many people here made that same type of comment about Clinton's voice.
Women have higher pitched voices. Get over it.

9. It's not a matter of pitch . . . voices of any pitch (within reason) . . .
Can be appealing. But Palin has a sort of Emily Latella, back of the palate, burr that many people find unpleasant. I'm not the only one to point it out.

10. People here complained about HRC's nasal tone, which was
a product of the area of Illinois where she grew up. Once we start getting into things like accents, we are trodding on thin ice.

20. This is not a hyper-serious thread. Thin ice, perhaps . . .
but also not so big a deal.

A tad more seriously, Hilary probably should have worked on her nasality -- it would have made her a more effective campaigner. You don't think Obama has listened to himself a million times so he could find the resonant center of his voice that gives it such power?

22. He's a tall guy with a baritone. That's why he's got a big voice.
He and Hillary have both practiced their speaking skills, for sure, but I doubt that either one has had voice lessons.

23. If so . . . why not? As the current occupant has proven over and over again . . .
Being effective as a public speaker is a major component of success. I'm not saying that Obama doesn't have a "good instrument" (as they say in the theatre), but that every politician needs to pay serious attention to such things -- even to the point of voice lessons.

2. Add into the fact that she brings with her low expectations
Lack of experience. Short time in office. Etc. All she has to do is show up and the MSM will wax poetic about her courage at taking on Biden.

18. YEP - they ALREADY have said it is a no-win for him ...
They have both said he can't beat up on her AND as you noted, basically said that all she has to do is make it through without passing out and they will say it is a win for her.

6. The problem Shrub had was he stood there speechless while he got the instructions
on what to say.. that silence was so out of place he looked like the idiot he is.

Then by the time he got the talking point he was short on time

This crap doesn't work, she needs to do it on her own

14. They're going to spend the next month drilling her on how to use the thing
properly, as Bush did the third time around in the debates. It takes practice, but she's probably a lot smarter than Bush. (Not that that's saying much.)

With everything that is emerging about her, I won't be surprised to see her get dumped soon.

24. He did it against HRC in the debates. He'll have no problem with Palin.
I only wish I trusted that he would actually be debating her and not some voice in her ear.
