according to abc news, mccain made his choice LAST NIGHT
~snip~

The campaign secretly flew Palin into Dayton last night. She and McCain met privately for a couple of hours. McCain concluded she would "shake up the system" and was "a maverick," qualities he believed Lieberman would have brought to the ticket. But she also would appeal to conservatives -- which Lieberman most certainly would not have done.

After their meeting, McCain concluded he was comfortable with his choice. He notified Pawlenty this morning that he was going in a different direction.

13. That fits with what some pundits were saying, that McCain had to totally overhaul their approach ...
... after the success of the Democratic nomination and Obama's speech. McCain may have made a rash decision.

17. Just the president we need - an impulsive idiot given to making rash decisions
and then defending them vociferously long after they have been proven wrong. Oh wait, that's what we've had to put up[ with for the past 8 years.

20. "They kept their activities from even some in McCain's most senior inner circle."
Hmmm. Will be interesting if some of these senior inner circle people bail out in the next week or 2.

So the "vetting lawyers" trumped his "inner circle"? Says alot of what McCain thinks of those in that circle.

I'm thinking she never was vetted. Til now.

21. I Went Through Job Interviews That Are More Thorough
Apparently, McCain only met her one time before:

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/29/1307122.aspx

I have gone through much more rigorous and thorough interviews for jobs that are not exactly a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Yet, McCain makes his decision the day before he announces it after only 2 meetings with Palin.

I guess if George Bush could look into Putin's eyes and see Putin's soul, perhaps what McCain saw in a total of 2 in-person meetings was sufficient.

22. Maybe McCain has no friends? Thought of that?
Bossy little angry man. Always yelling at everyone. Nap time and all. He was probably sitting there and thinking, I hate everyone and I can't share a stage with any of these fools, I'll pick the pretty brunette. That will make great TV.

23. O, come on! Didn't we learn from the last 8 years not to let the candidate make decisions??!
I thought we had learned this lesson.
1. Dress nice.
2. Show up.
3. Smile, shake hands.
4. Sign the pretty papers.
5. Avoid media questons whenever possible.

Flight logs show she left at around 4:15 EST

N222GY GLF4 Anchorage Intl (PANC) Thu 12:14PM YDT Thu 10:07PM EDT

Her entire family went with her. So I dont care what he says no reason her whole family would travel with unless he was choosing her.
