It would have solidified McCain at his major weakness: the economy.
it would have brought the Mormons in the Rocky Mountains states out like a mo'fo' and might have made it harder for Obama to take either NV or CO -both of which will be critical.
it might have tipped Michigan which obviously is also incredibly critical.
It would have forced Obama into a must-win situation in VA, OH and FL where we should be confident but know it will be close and a tough fight, all said, picking Mittens would have been such a smarter choice.
tactically, to not have picked him seems amazingly stupid, considering he placed second.
Even the conservative wonks got to know this and be crestfallen knowing that McCain passed up the guy who would have helped the most.
only two reasons to pick Palin 1) To toss a bone to the Ultra-Conservatives in his party (who probably will vote for him anyhow so long as they aren't freaked out by a woman in power -so deduct about half of them.) 2) to toss a bone to the PUMAs (even if there is a few hundred thousand -is their vote really going to shift any states? can you think of a state where there is enough of a concentration of PUMAs to shift the state? Maybe Florida, which was gonna be tough anyways and we don't really need)
neither one of these groups is going to help him anywhere near as much as Mitten's would have.
what a stupid motherfucker.
