Picking Palin shows that Republicans know that they will not win -
Think about it - IF McCain was to win do yuu really think he will be of sound mind and body to run again in 2012? So that leaves his VP to carry the torch and I do not honestly believe Repubs really want Palin to be their candidate in 2012 or even in 2016.

1. I agree. I'll bet not one of the other guys vetted was willing to be the sacrificial lamb.
I also think this choice was a way for McCain to mock Obama's youth and 'inexperience'. McCain knows he won't win, and he is a bitter and vindictive man, and if he's going down he wants to cause as much havoc as possible. They also might be thinking that this ties Biden's hands in the VP debates—that he has to pull his punches, that can't be seen as bullying her. It's so awful in its cynicism, to make a mockery of the system this way. Hopefully it backfires on them, and exposes once and for all their cynical and mocking political machinations in everything they do.

4. Absolutely. They are handing this election in because they want
to blame the Democrats for the messes in the next four years that will be directly attributable to Dubya. Hell, they are still blaming Clinton TODAY.

But the mess Dubya made is so severe that it will be something the Democratic President gets stuck with. This is not inconsistent, because when they claim it, it is against the surplus Clinton left and their unnecessary wars, in Obama´s case it will be true, because he inherits Dubya´s crap and has to fix it.

And have no doubt the repulicans will have the gall to blame Obama for the mess Dubya caused when it proves difficult to clean up.
