Some insight from CSpan callers - very revealing, I think.
My initial reaction is always of surprise that the people who dial in on the Repub lines can even figure out how to dial a phone.

Then I got less nasty and really listened at the people who were anti-Obama...and several of them are pretty much lost souls, left behind by the system and just plain non-believers - that things can change for the better, that Government can do anything positive for them. They would rather live with what they've always lived with than take a chance on change.

a very, very sad legacy of the last 8 years under Bush, methinks.

Or maybe I am being too kind to them???

2. If you are being too kind, then so is Obama....
that part was in his speech. He said as much.

3. I'm afraid my S.O. is one of them ...
We had a HUGE fight last night because he thinks I'm a
zombie believing in Obama and the chance for change.
He doesn't want to believe in ANYTHING anymore ... he's
been out of work for so long that he doesn't believe
things are EVER going to change. I feel sorry for him
because the loss of hope is the ... end? I may be
going through tough times right now, but at least I
am still capable of HOPE, and of being moved by someone
like Obama.

6. Not that you can tell age by a phone call but they also sound "older."
and when they identify where they come from, mostly fly over country

they are used to taking care of themselves and don't want no help from no guv'ment

That is why I also tuned in for ten minutes

Grover Norquist: I want to make the government so small it could drown in a bathtub.

Ronald Reagan: The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'

Yep. Mission Accomplished.

8. I don't listen to that shit anymore but before I got
to the mute button I heard this woman saying she didn't like either canidate and would write in mit romney if mccain didn't choose him.

I don't see how some of these people know how to push the right buttons to get their call done, either.

9. Something I've been running into lately...
I volunteer for a group called "Health Care Voters". I phonebank Democrats, Independents and Republicans. I've noticed that some Republicans are giving up on the system altogether. They'll say that it doesn't matter who they vote for because they never keep their promises, nothing ever gets done, etc. They've just given up. That should make me happy, seeing as they're Republicans and won't be voting, but it makes me feel a little sad.

10. Stupid woman called and said Obama will raise your taxes, wait and see. A truck driver called and
said he will vote for McLose. I don't understand these morons. Some others are going to vote for Obama.
