Why the GOP convention will have problems generating passion

The elephant in the room (pardon the pun).

The majority of the people at the convention in St. Paul don't even like McCain.

In fact, they kind of loathe him.

They're holding their nose and voting for him.... but there is no enthusiasm for him. For the past 8 years, conservatives have hated his guts.

And who do you think goes to conventions? The "true believers"... not the moderates. The "true believers" on the GOP side cannot stand John McCain.

It's hard to fake an emotion you don't really have for four days.

I predict the enthusiasm level in St. Paul will be very, very, very low.

1. I tend to think of the passion generated at DNC as more spontaneous and genuine.
I can't help but think of the RNC as just very coordinated like at a game show where the APPLAUSE or LAUGH sign lights up and the studio audience dutifully claps or laughs.

2. One of my best friends is a "true believer" who bleeds Republican.
He refuses to vote for McCain.

4. Actually, my Republican friend believes with McCain as the nominee
there are 2 Democrats running. Go figure.
