Is Wes Clark going to speak at the DNC?
Anybody know? And if he is, does anybody know when? I miss him, I thought he was going to speak today, but he's not on the schedule...

2. Nope.
Not asked to, and was scheduled to be in Europe anyway.

24. All blogger heresay, nothing official from the campaign or Wes himself.

I doubt a savvy operation like the Obama camapign would deliberately go out of their way to diss one of
Hillary Clinton's top surrogates.

Wes will be there tonight and the homepage of his Securing America website has an announcement about it.

Enough with the shit-stirring already and let's get a Democrat in the White House.

8. Clark always said he would do what was asked of him at the convention
Without something specific being asked of him by Obama, he kept his business committments which took him to Europe this week. The last we heard he thought he would get back in time to attend on Thursday. It is still unknown whether Obama plans to specifically include Clark in any way on the program or not. My guess is that he will be invited on stage to stand near the Clinton's after Obama gives his speech, but again, that's just a guess. I would rather he got at least a brief moment at the speakers podium to signify that Obama sees Wes Clark as part of his greater team.

5. It seems that he got thrown under the bus after his McCain comments.
Never mind that they were the truth.

To answer your question, I haven't been able to find him on any of the schedules, either.

9. I guess that signals no cabinet post for him.
And I'm very sad about that.

22. I don't think he's been eliminated at all from a cabinet position.
I know there's a "10 year" rule from military retirement to Secretary of Defense, but I'd really like to see Clark get that job. I've also heard there are "ways to get around it". Would that be a congressional vote, or what?

Others have suggested Clark as Secretary of State, and I could see that, but I'd rather see Richardson in that job if the General could take over the Pentagon.

10. Thanks everyone for the info!
Hope to see him Thursday then. I just hope he will get a role in an Obama administration. Would be such a waist of talent if not!

12. As hard as he has worked for the party, it's really lousy not to invite him. It's our loss.

15. Yep
There is anothere thread up about Scweitzer (who I like) being modest about the significance of his own speaking gig st the convention, saying something like "if you look at the program, you'll see that anyone who has ever shot a gopher has been at the podium".

With at least one glaring exception. It's sad.

14. He's gonna attend, possibly around Thursday but I haven't heard of any speaking roles.
It's possible that the MSM's swiftboating of him made him a bit too radioactive to parade out in public but I am hoping that Clark is just laying low and not being ignored. I'm sure that the Obama campaign will realize how much of an asset he is once it's safer for Clark to come out without being pilloried by the MSM. I am also hoping that Clark's campaign aides do their part in making sure their man's name is brought up often in the inside meetings of the Obama campaign.
