There's a "Sigh of Relief" about Obama picking Biden...do you think?
His BIO is an EXCELLENT FIT with OBAMA...and he sounds better (given the alternatives Obama had to choose from) from ALL THE OTHERS!

At this point...this DU'er is happy with the choice.

Biden is likeable, has great sense of humor, knows where all the bodies are buried and fits Obama's ideas of "Consensus Building."

C-Span Booknotes showed "Biden Book Tour" when he was just first running for President...and it was a good watch to see where he comes from and what he thinks about what's gone wrong in DC. He is very convincing in his views which much of which I agree with and some I don't...but then isn't OBAMA all about COMPROMISE and trying to find a COALITION that WORKS?

It's up to us "Progressives and Anti-War Activits to to propose to our Dem Leaders a Solution to American's Problems for everything by starting WARS we CANNOT PAY FOR!

Biden sees this...he's pragmatic and Obama has run on a "Third Way." It's a good fit...in many ways. Also "GENERATIONAL" because Obama in his early Campaign seemed to Diss folks over 47...so the addition of Biden was a great bone to throw to get those "experienced Americans" to look again at his Presidency.

"you know who",it adds to the divisive drama they perpetuate day in and day out. Biden was a perfect pick, that's what the media is angry about.

8. to a point...
and, it really doesn't matter. They wanted to talk about Hillary and that's ALL they've been doin on my TV. AND, it doesn't matter WHAT she does. It will never be enough.

They should be talking about Obama/Biden.

4. CNN is more shameful that ever.
out of every 100 words, maybe 8 would be neutral or complimentary in some way. and they spend hours and hours and hours tearing him down with any minusclei they have.

and there's Lou Dobbs, smirking about how unfair it is Obama is getting more coverage than McCain. sure Lou, I can tell you are one pickle shy of a barrel in the thinking department with that observation.

I am pretty confident that Obama will take the whitehouse.

but man, when I think about the enemies he has to fight from every possible direction and is still hanging on (well, leading I think but those pollsters are in on it as well), I sit in awe of him and the good people he chose to work with him. truly.

11. Sadly...they think their job is now to be "Angry" all the time..to cover up they don't REPORT
or INVESTIGATE any more. So, they use "anger" and "Controversy" to cover their weenie sycophantic roles to their corporat MC Masters. :-( That's what I think, anyway.

2. I felt it
Sure, there's things I don't like about him. But he'll be great at campaigning and in the debate. And Obama wants him. Harmony in the Executive Branch.

9. I felt a "fresh breeze blow across America" with the pick...and while
Biden isn't "perfect" ....then who was. I was delighted to see Obama choose him...since my worry was that Obama and his legions of "hard core supporters" seem so skewered to the "young voters" and Obama's statement seemed to say that folks over his age group were losers of the "Old Politics" and that they might be racists or whatever and that their views on "Social Security" and other FDR Programs were "Old Politics" and NOT politics of the YOUNG OBAMA REVOLUTION.

I felt good he understood...coalition building.

7. That's how I felt
Before it was official on Friday, I was thinking if it IS Biden, I'll feel relieved. I did and I do. I know he'll be great at attacking and defending.

17. And Chet Edwards.
Edited on Sun Aug-24-08 08:25 PM by highplainsdem
However, while I was checking Google News yesterday, I ran across stories about Indiana and Texas Dems who were disappointed that it WASN'T Bayh, or Edwards, depending on their state (and since some had preferred Clinton, too, Biden was their third choice...but they were all fairly happy with him, thought he'd make a good running mate and VP).

13. Well, he wasn't the one I wanted on the ticket, and many other Dems agree, but I'm relieved it was
Biden rather than the other non-Clinton possibilities mentioned.

I like Biden.

Also, neither candidate on the ticket is as progressive as I would like, but we are in such a serious situation that we really can't hope for much more THIS time around. It is going to take a while to swing America to the left (if there is indeed hope that this will happen) and AFAIC, this ticket is just about the biggest step we could take and still have hope of winning. I feel VERY good about this VP pick. Even though I've supported Obama for a while, recently I've been feeling dispirited about the campaign and our chances. Choosing an insider who has MOSTLY remained a good Democrat with liberal positions and votes and a really great attack dog with a good reputation was as pragmatic as you describe Biden as being. I've even found myself wondering if it would be better if it were Biden/Obama (I can't believe I'm saying this), but again, this is what we have to work with and I think it's the best we can do now. All we can do is move forward, work our butts off (I gotta get back to this), and keep our fingers crossed.
