He hasn't even broken a sweat, yet.
That's what amazes me so much about this guy we've nominated for president. He's been through more than any candidate for president I can remember. He's had to jump more hurdles than any contestant for the presidency in history.

He's overcome the smears of black liberation theology, being a muslim terrorist, Rezko, bitter-gate, and wright-gate.

He's taken hit after hit from mccain, bush*, faux noise, puma, etc... all without flinching.

I supported John Edwards in the primaries, and despite his recent troubles still think he's a good man who would have made a fine president. But there's something about this guy, Barack Obama, that impresses me more and more the longer I watch him.

There's a strength in Obama that still hasn't been tested. It's hard to explain but there's just something there that I have never seen in a presidential candidate.

He doesn't need to pander to his audience. He tells them what they don't want to hear and they applaud.

He doesn't need to lie about his positions. It may not be exactly what you like but he doesn't back down.

Now he's had the courage and audacity to name a VP who would normally dwarf a first term senator. Yet Joe Biden, for all his gravitas, doesn't upstage this guy, he compliments him.

The media attack him for weeks and he turns around and plays them like a fiddle.

And he hasn't even broken a sweat, yet.

I'm glad he's on our side.

19. for someone "naive" or inexperienced
O certainly has repeatedly gotten the upper hand with the more seasoned pols.

Just sayin'...just cuz you've done something for years and years doesn't mean you're good at it. And just cuz you haven't done it for years and years doesn't mean you're bad at it. Think about sports. Every once in a while, that special athlete with natural ability and talent comes along. They've worked hard for it, but they're also just doing what they are supposed to be doing. they have that thing.

O's got it.

He proves it with every move he makes.

4. it has truly....
been amazing to watch. When I started watching in Feb. 08...
there were times when I would cringe inside at the attacks...
and wonder how he would make it through them...
now, I no longer cringe.
I just sit back and wait to watch how it unfolds,
confident that he will handle it in his way.
....and he always does, with grace and style.

5. Erica Jong calls it "koolth"

Whatever it is, Obama is cool and unflappable. His patience and strength are to be feared by any opponent. Don't let this guy fool you either, I thought Hillary had him beat already last fall, but he effectively had her beat by mid-February. He laid back, took some early lumps then hit her when it was the right time, stunned her in Iowa and steamrolled her all through February. Look what's going on now. He let McCain stumble all over himself this week. He lost some ground in the polls a little, took everything McCain had and then McCain almost hung himself with the issue regarding his houses. Next thing you know McCain panicked and pulled out Rezko and Ayers way too early, during the Olympics and right before the Dem convention. Then Obama made the Biden announcement and you could hear the crickets chirping on the McCain attacks. Nobody cares about that stuff now. It just rolls off The Big O.

I can only imagine how frustrating it is to get counterpunched so beautifully all the time. No wonder McCain is so jealous of the guy. He goads him into going to Iraq, and it was a resounding success, for example. He's always a step ahead without even trying and while withstanding the best the other side throws at him.

6.  what side is that?
i'm undecided ...for real I am a real Un enrolled, (independent)

I don't like Macdaddy's nuclear ambitions. or his old age or staunchness or his lack of use and or understanding of the world wide web.

I don't like Obama's naivety, which I believe he is to some extent.

I do like that Hillary Clinton is not the Dem candidate; I would be forced to vote for the MacDaddy in that scenario.

10. First, welcome to DU.
:hi:

Now, you claim Obama is naive, but you don't give any examples. Please explain how he has been naive and I will do my best to answer you truthfully.

After that, we can have a conversation on the merits of both candidates.

12. can't teach an old dog new tricks

age, experience, and practice at it...... Obama is not going to view the world of politics in the same manner as someperson as old and corrupted, maybe I should say wise; as McCain.

15. Age is very relative here.
Obama is 47, not exactly fresh out of high school. No, he's not going to view the world of politics as mccain does, but that's more because of his own life experiences and his ability to empathize with others, more than his age. This is proved by the fact that many elderly people agree with Obama's polictical views and, sadly, many younger people agree with mccain's.

I will say that one thing I would never attribute to Obama is naivety. On the contrary, he has shown a practical side to his nature that can be almost steely at times.

I think what would best help you is considering your political views and finding the best match. If you don't feel comfortable expressing them in public, feel free to PM me.

But Obama is holding up very well. He jogs every morning and usually does two town meetings in a day. At least he did last week.

16. And he does it with such class and style

He doesn't lose his cool, he doesn't lose his patience, he has an uncanny sense of timing, he never blusters, and he doesn't second guess himself ... he trusts his instincts and in so doing, makes it easy for me too also.

And it's going to be SO COOL not to have a DUMB ASS as President ... stupid just pisses me off! I've never been this excited about any politician.

GOBAMA!

25. That's one of the things I like about the choice of Biden as VP
From what I can tell, he is also pretty damned smart.

A smart president, and a smart VP. And not just Machiavellian-talented, but genuinely smart. It's like scenting rain on the wind, after an 8 year drought...
