If McCain were smart he would pick a woman.
There's a lot of older white women that are upset with obama pick... on top of that it would give McCain campaign a fresh new start with a different angle.

1. Well lets hope he doesn't then.
I don't think he will. I think he's threatened by powerful women. Mittens is the pick, if the rumors are true.

3. have any suggestions?
I think that a lot of the female frontrunners for VP on the Republican side have their own problems, just like some of the male frontrunners for VP. Sarah Palin is being investigated in Alaska, Carly would have her tenure at HP examined. Maybe Meg Whitman? I just can't see these women connecting to these Hillary voters in the same way that Hillary connected to them. Unless they just want a female for the sake of having a female.

6. Sarah Palin is the obvious choice.
She's young, energetic, pro-life and a really solid conservative. Just as Biden counters Obama's lack of experience, Palin would contrast McCain's old visage and lack of energy.

McCain Palin '08. I'm calling it!

11. could be.
I think that since Alaska Republican politics are not in a good PR place right now, they would not want to take the chance of the issue of Palin being investigated for corruption/firing, but could be.

22. Palin's administration is currently under a ethics cloud (read below)
Gov. Sarah Palin has placed one of her aides on paid leave until an investigator finishes looking into accusations her team broke ethics or personnel rules.

The investigation stems from Palin's July firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. Monegan later said he felt pressured by the governor's office to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, a trooper who had been locked in a child-custody battle with Palin's sister.

Palin last Wednesday revealed a phone call made by her boards and commissions director, Frank Bailey, to a trooper lieutenant.

35. I agree Palin is the pick. The corruption charges are typical state BS and won't stick
Palin would bring excitement, youth, and rock solid fundamentalist cred to McSames campaign. She is also pro drilling, and her husband is with BP. Her Downs Syndrome child, while tragic, will make a compelling story.

McSame isn't stupid enough to go toe to toe with Biden on foreign policy. He'll bring in a social conservative. But, by bringing a woman onboard, he will lay claim to the mantle of change.

53. Any pick needs defending
Ridge would need defending over his pro-choice views (which he'll back pedal on, trust me), and Romney's religon would need defending.

Palin is young: Mc Same needs youth
Palin is a governor: balance for a legislator
Palin is a life member of the NRA (and doesn't just go after "small varmits")
Palin is not merely anti-abortion; she bore and is raising a Downs Syndrome child: fudies will see her as an example to all America
Palin is a woman (to state the obvious): Let's face facts, Obama has dug himself somewhat of a hole with this demographic
Palin is pro-drilling, and is well versed with all of the industry arguments

I - and my siblings - were raised more or less entirely on a low-income by a single mother, so I have no time for bitter, limp, wishy-washy, easily swayed females who'd vote for McCain because he's got a woman as his VP. Pathetic creatures, for whom I have absolutely no respect.

41. Could it be because of the Clintons tepid endorsment, or the false hope stoked by rabid supporters
that maybe she will plan some coup at the convention? Obama should have ripped the bandaid off given Senator Clinton a small speaking role and nothing else at the convention. Women should support other women (like the 170 million women that will be affected by a McCain presidency) The many vs. the one. THe victim act is growing weary and making true feminists look bad.
