Who Do You Want for VP???....
In the event a major US bank FAILS...

And the media focus turns hard towards America's debt crisis.

It's about to happen:

2. I want Clark
I'd be happy with Biden or Clinton.

Disappointed with Bayh or Sebelius. Don't know enough about Kaine to have much of an opinion.

Possible liability?

6. I don't think so.
That bankruptcy bill was supported by something like 70 Senators and he lives in a state where lots of people work for the banks. The banking industry, in and of itself, is not inherently evil. Certainly, there have been serious problems but I wouldn't blame Biden for them.

26. I know Biden's support
of the Bankruptcy Bill pisses a lot of people off, but it wasn't even a close vote. One of the problems with being in the Senate for so long is that there are going to be thousands of bills that can be scrutinized and used against you. It's one of the reasons Senators don't make good candidates for President. It's pretty hard not to have offended someone with a vote on some bill or another.

None of them are perfect.

11. I would prefer Reed to Bayh.
But his name, like Clark's, hasn't been on the radar.

I certainly am impressed with the Obama campaign's ability to keep a secret. Lots of speculation keeps him in the news.

15. Reed divulged yesterday that he has not been vetted.
So it's not Reed.

And Alter seemed to suggest on Countdown last night that he had spoken with Bayh and it ain't him either.

20. Even with the MBNA ties?
That was my point here. Has this suddenly become a more serious liability?

Just curious to hear what others think.

22. Even with everything
No one is perfect for Obama but Joe comes pretty close. I would think that having banking ties will be an asset when the shit starts getting deep. Better someone familiar with it than walking in blind.

How banks work, rather than just being accused of "enabling" them?

either currently running or being considered for President or Vice President. He actually knows how to take charge of complex problems. Clark, definately. It should also be added that he has been in employed iat high levels n the private sector since leaving the Army. Clark knows economics and he knows banking.

31. I'm a Richardson fan
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 10:19 AM by Mugsy
I supported Richardson in the primaries. Here's the case for him as VP:

Tons of foreign policy cred as former Ambassador to the UN, Energy policy cred as Former Energy Secretary AND as one of the greenist governors in the country, whose recent negotiations with North Korea not only led to their disarmament, but the release of the remains of several MIA's from the NK war (Richardson is big among the MIA/POW crowd), whose state is one of the few with a balanced budget, doesn't cost us a crucial Senator in the quest for a 60+ super-majority, and draws enough of the Hispanic vote that it would make up for any votes lost from Hillary traitors that would vote for McCain, without regard for the consequences, out of spite.

Big opponent of the Iraq war, he campaigned on getting the troops out in eight months (only Kucinich was faster).

Racist scumbags that wouldn't vote for a "double minority" ticket were already weeded out when a black man won the nomination. And, though I'd hate to discuss it, any racist scumbags that might wish to do Obama harm if he wins might be less likely to if it meant putting a "Mex'cun" in the White House. Call it "the Cheney-effect".
