He doesn't know how long his Grandma will be around so he tries to visit once a year - usually at Christmas. It has been 19 months since his last visit because he didn't go last Christmas because it was only 2 weeks before the Iowa Caucus.

... which is what the Obama family is doing this week. Going home. He's taking a well-earned vacation, but he's not a tourist.

How far is it to where you were born? Can you get there by car, or maybe a Greyhound bus? Beausoir, as those who live in the Islands will tell you, the only feasible way to get to and from is to fly. The campaign bus won't do. There's no whistle-stop train trips across 3,000 miles of Pacific Ocean.

As for the private jet, this is our presidential nominee and that's how it's done these days. If you choose to be envious that that position comes with special privileges, you will live a very aggravated life.
