I'm getting more and more pissed about McCain at Sturgis and the lack of coverage of it
There were no cameras present when he allegedly called his wife the "c" word but the youtube of him joking about her being in the contest is roughly the equivalent IMHO. I am disgusted by the way the MSM is deliberately not covering the significance of John McCain's behavior toward Cindy McCain on that stage in South Dakota. We all know that if it was the Obamas who had been there and Barack who had made the joke about Michelle (with their daughters on stage with them), the outcry would be ear-shattering.

I am PISSED that John McCain was profoundly disrespectful to his own wife on a stage in front of thousands, with their daughter Megan looking on (don't forget that part - how fucking creepy is that). As Gloria Feldt so aptly put it in her blog, Cindy looked like she'd swallowed a lemon. I am ROYALLY PISSED that the network news is, if not outright ignoring this, glossing it over. If there was any doubt that the MSM is thoroughly coopted by the Republican party, this eradicates it.

BTW, this is not a post about bikers, the merits of Sturgis, or how some women find participating in topless beauty contests to be an empowering experience. I don't give a shit about any of that right now so don't bother me with it.

5. And he was right. Here's hoping that a Dem president and Congress will be able
to reinstate a revamped version of the Fairness doctrine, although look to the RW to howl about free speech rights etc etc.

2. I hear that. It's mind-boggling that anyone in this country can call our MSM liberal. There is no
question who the corporate media are carrying water for.

3. It was all over a local pop radio station
the DJ was just ripping into McCain and his wife. The radio station is based in Hartford, CT. The DJ explained the situation and then just started ragging on McCain.

13. Glad to hear that. The local media here hasn't said boo about it.
McCain's home state so no surprise there. :grr:

17. Yeah, CT is quite a bit more liberal
There are conservative pockets but for the most part it's totally blue. A lot of the radio stations lean more DEM, well at least their on-air talent does...I heard quite a few McCain slams lately. It's quite amusing.

4. Maybe someone should add that in with one of those videos of a women's clinic under a McCain
presidency?

7. I'm telling you...don't expect the corporate media to heavily criticize McCain
at all throughout this entire GE. I was watching Hardball yesterday and they said something about Obama being wise not to challenge McCain's character because that's what he's most popular for. So, you can challenge Obama's character and insinuate all kinds of things...but not McCain?! The MSM is clearly protecting McCain because they know the lightest wind can blow him over.

9. "Obama being wise not to challenge McCain's character.."
OMG, that has to be the single dumbest thing uttered in this campaign season.

8. No, the real story is the "McCain tries to reinvent himself and looks uncomfortable"
or, "McCain unable to connect, appears out of touch" stories are non-existent. Think about it. If that had been Kerry or Gore, the media would have been poking fun at them and telling us that they had never been to Sturgis before. They would accuse a Dem of pandering and failing at it. McCain gets the "oh, isn't he cute" or "he didn't know" stories.

"All the coverage, none of the criticism." That's the way the political media likes to treat McCain.

12. Yes, "oh isn't he cute" seems to be the running theme in the coverage.
Fuck "cute". John McCain is a hateful misogynistic peckerwood who doesn't deserve to be on my local city council, let alone the US Senate, let alone President.

16. If they think he's cute, they should just get a garden gnome and be done with it.
I mean, if you slap a beard on McCain, wouldn't he look like a garden gnome?

Here's what I mean. I photoshopped a beard on a picture of McCain as he was leaving Sturgis (he heard they were bikers and, well, never mind) with the money he raised. I think he looks like a gnome.

Really, once you accept that you'll have a lot less stress about it.

11. That totally pissed me off. He is an old-time misogynist, tried and true. However,
I disagree with people who say Cindy looked embarassed or angry. She smiled and did a high-five
to the audience and, as far as I could see, looked altogether pleased.

Creepy couple, those McCains.

15. I sensed that a lot of people in the media had no idea how to approach it
Stephanie Miller is the only person I saw on tv who had the courage to speak up. The others did nothing more than show McCain make his statement and then followed it with the more tame footage of the actual pageant. I'm pretty sure Pat Buchanan actually blushed.

20. It was odd that the MSM looked the other way while McCain played the part of a pimp!!
Oooh, I did it now. Now all the pimps will be pissed off at me.

LoL

But, seriously, if Obama had went up on stage and said "how many of you guys out there would like to be with my wife?" do you think the MSM would ignore it?

Let's face it, McCain's pants could fall down while he was delivering a speech and the MSM would keep from discussing it.
