If Suskind's revelations don't prompt some serious prosecutions, the Constitution is dead
sorry, but if this one gets brushed off like Plame, Yellow Cake, etc., we need to face the fact that we're now officially a different country than the one that existed for 220 years or so. The Constitution is officially a "historical document", like the warnings, ignored by *, that Saudis were going to fly airplanes into buildings. It's been replaced de facto by the stack of Signing Statements that have been enacted over the last 7.5 years.

Time to rewrite the HS History texts.

1. The Constitution IS dead.
There will have to be a major event in the country for things to change. :dem:

2. except for Olbermann, where was this discussed on TV today?
I don't watch the evening news; did they carry it?

I know this morning I saw one of the antiObama book authors on MSNBC twice, CNN once, in the matter of three hours. not one mention of the Suskind book.

that's the way it's going to be

get used to it

3. Unless Suskind is willing to "fork over" the tapes to Congress,
his book in worthless for America's needs. In an interview today, I understood him to say that he didn't "dump tapes" from his interviews. He released his book with a roar but not is speaking weasel words.

I don't doubt that his accusation are true. But, without the tapes, why bother? Just another piece of here say.

4. If Suskind's claims are backed by any evidence, you mean.
I'm all too willing to believe his charge, but Congress won't do anything with the mountain of evidence already in for the myriad */cheney abuses of power. Unsubstantiated tales like Suskind's aren't likely to raise any eyebrows on the Hill.

5. "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face! It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
-George W. Bush

Does that tell you enough?
