Poll asked women voters who they would rather carpool with and who they would want to vacation with.
Guess who won:

Of Candidates and Carpools
By Katharine Q. Seelye

The old beer question as a test of likeability in presidential candidates has been scorned by some as a superficial measure of whether someone would be a good president.
Still, pollsters can’t help but ask it in one form or other, since voters say that likeability matters as they consider whom they want in their living rooms for the next four years.
In a new variant, Lifetime Networks, the women’s cable channel, has asked women voters who they would rather carpool with and who they would want to vacation with.
In both cases, they chose Senator Barack Obama over Senator John McCain,
according to Lifetime, which has been conducting a non-partisan campaign since 1992 to engage women in the electoral process.

About 51 percent said they would rather ride with Mr. Obama, while 31 percent preferred Mr. McCain. (Only five percent of those who chose Mr. Obama said they would ride with Mr. McCain, while 17 percent of McCain supporters would share a ride with Mr. Obama.)
Only 6 percent said they would rather ride alone.
As for summer vacations, 49 percent said they would prefer to go off with the Obamas, while 26 percent would spend the summer with the McCains.
About 20 percent said they would prefer to vacation sans candidate.

Yes, I know how stupid these polls are blah, blah, blah. For once, we are winning in them which seems like good news. :)

2. I don't know....
they probably spend extravagantly... if I could soak them for fancy dinners and then ditch them to go clubbing on my own, it could be quite fun.... hey.... that does kinda sound like the last time I vacationed with my ex and his family!

6. In her case, she got it by inheritance...
Those who didn't have to scrimp and save and work hard to build their fortune are less likely to be frugal with it, hence the $50K a month credit card habit of the daughter. They spend like drunken sailors. Did you miss the posts about their credit balances, which supposedly they continually pay off (meaning they must spend that much regularly). These are not the type to live by a budget.

4. Here are some of the comments in The Caucus thread.
Of course the majority would rather carpool or vacation with Obama. He is an urbane, witty, au courant and an intelligent conversationalist, whereas McCain is whiny, petulant, cranky old man who couldn’t discuss anything remotely interesting to people with 21st century sensibilities if his life depended on it. Obama would have though provoking suggestions and actually listen to your opinions, where McCain would just whine the same old complaints about Obama. If the conversation will be all about Obama anyway, of course the real McCoy is preferable.

These women who said they would car pool with Senator Mc Cain have never spent an hour in a car with a seventy plus year old man. Besides the constant complaining about other drivers and the gas passing and belching, the geezer smell can be over whelming. If a tire blows you will have to change it and you will have a mess on your hands if you pass a rest area without stopping.
Now if this poll was between Barak and J.C. Watts, it`s outcome may be slightly more political and than physical. Every day I say to myself,” Myself, can this election coverage get any lamer? ” It does.
Ms. Seeleye was surpassed on the Chris Mathews Show tonight when the democrats said that M c Cain had included phallic symbols in his Paris Hilton ad. It was meant to high lite the white woman black man fears of white men. Nothing can ever top that, well maybe I`m too hasty. I`d better wait until tommorrow night.

You couldn’t pay me enough to get into a car with John McCain behind the wheel.

And as a passenger, at least Obama would have some decent tunes on his iPod.

I wouldn’t vacation with McCain, he’s thinks it’s 1957 and I should be cooking his dinner and cleaning up after him. I wasn’t born in the 50’s, I certainly wouldn’t want to live in them.

I adored my father-in-law from the moment I met him, but he was the world’s worst driver ever! As he got older and more infirm, it was even more terrifying to be a passenger in his automobile. How about a NEW TEST-who would you rather have as your oncologist? For me, it would be Dr. Obama.

ummm, not to be too snarky…but, face it, seniors are not the best drivers in the world so duh…i want to live…sign me up with sen. obama.

as for vacation neighbors…well, i like to party when i’m on vacation…wouldn’t want an oldster complaining about the noise and the late hours. think i’d rather have the obamas next door….heck, maybe they’d come on over. they look like fun.

5. Even when my candidate wins in these silly surveys I get annoyed
We are not electing a friend. Very few of us will ever even meet the president.

17. Unfortunately, these are personality contests we have to win
At the end of the day, the general election is a personality contest. Try as we might to make them something else, that's what it always comes to with most voters.

Like "I would rather hunt with Dick Cheney than drive with Ted Kennedy". The pukes love bringing up Ted's past.

12. Liz Jones of the UK Mail on Sunday reckons Obama is the type most women
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 09:21 AM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
go ga-ga over.

She starts off by saying that Miliband, the young Nu Labor Minister, who is craftily challenging Brown for his office as PM, looks the cat's whiskers and will win the womens' votes, hands down.

".... you have to bear in mind", she states, "that the only voters who will matter at the next Election are the female ones. And as Sybil Fawlty so eloquently reminded Basil, we are not remotely aroused by the likes of Gladstone and Baden-Powell, no matter their statesmanlike qualities, track records and decades of experience.

We prefer boyish Latin types, with a twinkle in their eye and a spring in their step. This is true the world over. The reason Brown has plummeted so alarmingly in the polls is because he looks so worn, so wide, so frankly unappealing stood alongside the likes of Barak Obama (what with that movie-star smile and those long, long legs - no wonder the matronly white women queuing up for a peck on the cheek look as though they have just been asked on a date by Jesus) and Nicholas Sarkozy... " Well, we won't go there.

Well, a Nu Labor type par excellence, Jones merely used that as a preamble to talking up Brown as the "substance over style" that's needed. Ahem! We'll pass over that, too.

But how can you not laugh when you see just a photo of McCain? It's nothing personal. It is because the list of his policies, like Bush's, reads like a compendium of policies that have already proved disastrous, and are most vehemently detested and most reviled anywhere in the world. Well, outside of Zimbabwe, anyway.

16. When they ask "average males" who they'd rather eat chips, drink beer,
scratch balls, watch NFL and fart with, I'll care.

I think Obama would still win--can you imagine McSame's (ugh, let's not even go there, ick!)? As to vacationing, I like a bit more adventure than shuffleboard and the early bird buffets on a cruise ship.
