Obama: Give Michigan And Florida Delegations "Full Vote"
Obama: Give Michigan And Florida Delegations "Full Vote"
from Horserace: CBSNews.com

Barack Obama has sent a letter to the co-chairs of the Democratic National Convention"s Credentials Committee urging them to pass a resolution allowing the Democratic delegations from Florida and Michigan to be fully represented at the Democratic National Convention.

The states were stripped of their delegates as punishment for moving their primaries forward in violation of Democratic National Committee rules. They were awarded half-votes at a May meeting.

The Obama campaign did not advocate for full representation for the delegations during his battle with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. Clinton won both states, though Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan. The Clinton campaign fought to have the delegations fully represented.

"...I believe Party unity calls for the delegates from Florida and Michigan to be able to participate fully alongside the delegates from the other states and territories," Obama writes in the letter. "Accordingly, I ask that the Credentials Committee, when it meets on August 24 to approve the delegates for the National Convention, pass a resolution that would entitle each delegate from Florida and Michigan to cast a full vote."

He continues: "As a candidate for the nomination, I supported the DNC"s efforts to establish and enforce a schedule for primaries and caucuses that would broaden the opportunity for Democrats from all regions of the country and all backgrounds and walks of life to have a meaningful voice.... As we prepare to come together in Denver, however, we must be - and will be - united in our determination to change the course of our nation. To that end, Democrats in Florida and Michigan must know that they are full partners and colleagues in our historic mission to reshape Washington and lead our country in a new direction."

The DNC released a statement in response to the letter.

"Today we received a letter from Senator Obama requesting that the Convention's Credentials Committee grant each delegate from Florida and Michigan a full vote. We deeply appreciate and value Senator Obama's perspective on this important issue. This matter will be the top priority for the Credentials Committee when we meet on August 24th. As always our goal is to ensure a fair process and a unified Democratic Party so that we can win in November."

11. No, she really doesn't.
If you can imagine what would happen if somehow Hillary would come out the nominee instead of Barack, Hillary would lose every single state in the nation......because so many people would simply not vote out of protest. If you think OBama has even a bit of a problem due to the primary outcome such as the forming the PUMAS, what would arise out of a reversed scenario after the convention would simply hand the nomination to John McCain. I believe that Hillary knows this full well.

2. Obama better watch his back because the long knives are poised.
Creed of the Pathologically Unable To Accept Defeat (uttered with fingers crossed):

THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DENVER

1. Senator Clinton has only suspended her campaign. She has not conceded and never offered a statement of concession which is traditional when someone is no longer a candidate. She did not officially end her candidacy which she could have chosen to do. She is still technically a candidate.

2. Senator Clinton has not released her delegates. Releasing or asking her delegates to support Senator Obama is also something she could have done. She has not. All of Senator Clinton's delegates won during the primary season are still committed to her and can cast their votes for her at the convention as long as her name is on the ballot.

3. Super delegates public declarations do not count. They can change their minds ( as some did during the primary). They are not committed to any of their public declarations. Nothing counts until they cast their votes in Denver on August 27th.

7. I know..I remember reading somewhere
that Florida and Michigan would get their status back in the General which makes sense since it was the primary that the officials screwed up with their breaking the rules.
