5. Well, OK but.....
Do you really think Al Gore or Elizabeth Edwards are likely picks?

3. I'll second that!
And the totally shallow, easy on the eyes factor would increase exponentially from this:

17. your keyboard to Obama's ear.
I want Clarke, but Richardson is as good or better - I just like the guy and we need another beard in the Executive branch.

15. It's 57+ minutes long, but Schweitzer is only about the first half of it.
I'm not 100% with him, but he's damn good.

7. Given those choices, I voted for Max Cleland.
I voted for Max Cleland because goddamit I like Max Cleland.

Max Cleland has had to shovel a lot of shit from people like Ann Coulter and the brick-headed morons who listened to her and Ralph Reed smearing Max in his Senate re-election campaign.

I realize he is not going to be on the short list. But I honor his service to my country and I think he does not deserve the isolation he might be feeling at this point in the game.

10. I'd like to see Max in the Obamadministration
The VA would be an obvious fit for him. Or put him in charge of election reform, since he only lost his Senate seat because of DIEBOLD.

12. Two excellent ideas. And also you have a good third idea in there, too --
putting a good soul like Max Cleland into an influential position where he can bring about much-needed change.

I'm on board. I have a real soft spot for Max Cleland.

8. OTHER: Obama/Schweitzer
If you want to sell change, this is the way to do it.

No inside-the-beltway voting record to pick apart, no scandals, smart, Middle East-experienced (speaks Arabic).

He's a white guy, so there's no danger of "too much" change".

He's a rancher with a Masters degree in soil science, so there's no "elitist" claims.

He speaks like a regular guy...making him a political anomaly that I believe would sell with middle America.

...and, while I don't agree with {i]every{/i] component of his energy plan, he gets us foreign-oil free in 15 years.

He's an unknown and he has comparatively little experience, but I think he'd clinch this thing for us.

14. I agree, but apparently Obama doesn't.....Schweitzer isn't even getting mentioned in the press....
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 10:23 PM by tokenlib
...and you'd think he'd at least appear on some list in the media. So unless Obama is really going to stun everyone--we're just dreaming. I'd love to see it.

16. Who knows? Both candidates are keeping their short lists close to the vest.
I really don't think Obama could make a better choice, though.
