<b>'America Has no Better Partner than Europe'</b>

US Presidential Candidate Barack Obama started his much-anticipated trip to Germany on Thursday, and the expectations are massive. SPIEGEL ONLINE is following his every move through Berlin with its Live Ticker.

++Over 200,000 Throng to Listen to Obama++

8:00 p.m.: Police estimate that at least 200,000 people turned up to listen to Obama's speech.

++ Obama Says He Loves America ++

7:47 p.m: Obama says that he loves America and that the US speaks to aspirations shared by all people -- "to live free from fear."

And here's a live transcript Heidi did for the ones not having access to the live stream:

It's overwhelming, to be honest. He's not even the official nominee yet, but delivers a wonderful speech in front of more than 200'000 people who are not even Americans. The only thing that made this not an appearance of a leader was that the German government refused to give him police bike escort. Other than this - GOBAMA!

And this in Berlin, where the mayor Klaus Wowereit is a Social Democrat and openly gay.
