Obama just got served....by Sean Hannity...?!
Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 10:44 PM by vaberella
Dailykos just posted this amazing news.:sarcasm: I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry, "Bonzai" at the impending death of FoxNews. It's going to be great, if it should happen. Even though on the flipside I find it below Obama to cater to Hannity's childish whim. Had this been early on in Obama's run, I probably wouldn't have had a flipside and would have tuned into Fox early. However, now, although it would be fun, the value of it is questionable.

Sean Hannity ( just moments ago ) challenge Barack Obama to not only come on Hannity and Colmes, but offered the co-hosting spot to him. He also offered the entire 3 hours of his radio program, as well as the full hour of Hannity's America.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/17/21193/9815/257/550951

What do you guys think of this new move by FoxNews...at least they know how to keep their ratings up if anything. Lies, conjecture, and childish taunts?! :D

Served it's basically a b-boy or crew dance battle terminology to issue a challenge. I used it not only for that meaning, but also I thought it added a comedic twist to Hannity's challenge---which I saw as a childish taunt.

Edited once again to add the sarcasm, since the "amazing news" was meant to be sarcastic.

1. I sorely hope Obama doesn't even respond. Why should he?
Hannity lies, is gross, and as you noted, just wants to boost his ratings. Obama has better things to do.

I know, it'd give people an opportunity to see him, but people on Faux don't want to see him anyway; they want to see Hannity try to make him look foolish.

7. It's B-Boy terminology for basically issuing a challenge from one person to another....
For those who may not "get" it, I'll make a note of it in bold.

He can meet me there by taking the A, C, E or F trains.

If he doesn't show...I consider him 'served'.

But to be "served," the presumed server has to be taken seriously. Hannity isn't.

51. Actually, in the sense I was using it was to make a mockery of that.
Mainly due to the film "You Got Served". Yes, being "served" would be considered something serious. But that film destroyed it as a serious thing and made it into a joke. So I thought the term would be fitting. Most b-boyers and crews don't even serve one another any more. The language is developing. However, in some cases it's still used.

52. Yeah, it's no longer that any longer. It's used in the sense of a "subpeona" court case...
You know when the cops show up and give you you're papers. They say you've just been "served". So you can choose to go to court or not, but if it's not it's jail time. That's how it's used in the b-boy/ crew world now. As an issued challenged with a time and place meet up for battle.

11. "No Fox interviews until one month after its last Michelle slur"...
Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 10:42 PM by Youphemism
It's a very old ploy...

O'Reilly started early in the season, showing up at Obama events to beg him to be on the show. He continues to talk about Obama ducking him, even though Obama told him to wait until the general election, which starts *after* he gets the democratic nomination in August.

Meanwhile, Hannity (as well as other Fox folks) is slamming Michelle to the point that even the mild-mannered Obama told him to back off.

There is only one thing that Fox promotes more than the Republican agenda, and that one thing is itself.

O'Reilly won't even mention Olbermann's name, for fear of helping him with publicity. Meanwhile, both O'Reilly and Hannity beg and cajole Obama to show up and help them look important and relevant.

Obama will probably feel he needs to appear on Fox at some point, to address the mild right leaning and independent voters.

But if that's the case, he should take something back from them by stating that he'll give them the interview they're begging for one month after their last airing of a slur on his wife.

Faux News is on my list of cable channels, but unlike so many here.. I don't turn it on --- EVER.

I guess I can't figure out why people waste their time on such crap when there are so many OTHER channels on!?!?!?!?

And before anyone responds with the same line they always give me "I want to keep up with what the enemy is doing"

......

I don't buy that excuse for one single minute. There's plenty of places to find out the b.s. that Faux is reporting without resorting to watching the total CRAP.

So why Katz do you watch it and let the asshole quote "bring out the nasty in you?

38. What gets me is
Hannity has been living in his make-believe world for so long, with only a milksop like Colmes (who I admit is hampered by the rule on H&C that the hosts can't challenge each other on statements they make) that I think he actually believes he could go toe-to-toe with someone like Obama. Hannity needs to review some relatively recent footage of Limbaugh guest-hosting Pat Sajak's talk show, Al Franken pwning O'Reilly during a book tour, Colbert lampooning O'Reilly on both Bill and Colbert's shows without Bill realizing it, etc.

Sean, the reason you're on Fox is because you're can't compete in the real world. You're never going to be ready for the big times so don't get yourself into something where no one is going to be there to pull your ass out of the fryer.

Hannity is not prepared for it. Hannity is expecting Obama to never do it.

Obama getting 3 full hours to share Hannity's mike will be a wonderful thing. Hannity is an intellectual lightweight. Obama would wipe the floor with him. Hannity's success depends on him speaking in the "echo chamber" to his audience. Hannity has a very pedestrian IQ and would NOT be able to think on his feet like Obama.

Hannity's minions would get to hear their hero reduced to a blathering pile of goo.

If your so tough and such a great debater and your ideas are so great and your so beloved by the American People.

Why don't you run for Senator of NY. Than you might have a shot at debating a democratic Senator.
Chuck Schumer's up for election in 2010 and Hillary in 2012.

I would love to see you go up against either of those two fine public servants. Put your ideas up against theirs and let the people of NY decide

You host a lame radio show and a lame TV show. You aren't even in any of the Democratic Senators we have's leagues to be issuing a challenge because your a petulant little man child of a radio host let alone the Nominee.

48. No - it must be "neutral" turf. Not Faux. Not his radio or TV shows.
I think Barack would eat up cowardly Hannity, but take Hannity out of his "comfort zone" and put the two together on something like a "Meet the Press" format on a network other than Faux. Hannity is a coward. He wants the ratings, but he also wants to assure friendly turf and the backing of his sycophantic followers.

I'm sure Keith or Bill Moyers would be happy to use their shows for such an exchange.

OK, it's just wishing. But I don't think Obama should go on Hannity's turf. Neutral ground, and good luck, Sean, cuz you're gonna need it.
