Obama's statement about June fundraising
From NBC/NJ's Athena Jones

EN ROUTE FROM CHICAGO TO SAN DIEGO -- In a brief, informal press conference aboard his plane last night,
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/13/1197282.aspx

Obama seemed to scoff at a question about a recent Wall Street Journal report in the Wall Street that said his June fundraising numbers were “underwhelming.”

“Since the Wall Street Journal was wildly off in their estimates -- I have no idea where they got their numbers -- I think you guys should wait 'til we release our numbers to make a decision as to how underwhelming they are,” he said.

5. No, this is brilliant. In one move on the chessboard, Obama's
team has inspired his own donors to give more, had the Wall Street Urinal tell McSame's supporters McSame has all the money he needs, lowered expectations about those $100 million in June numbers and can put the real number out whenever it will be most effective between now and the reporting date. Plus, he has pwned the WSJ. The people running Obama's campaign really know what they are doing.

4. McCain raised around 22 million.
If Obama could double that amount, the WSJ would really look stupid.

7.  I agree that he is probably waiting to announce for strategic advantage.
His campaign has been good at understanding the news cycle, and events in the news, and has made various announcements based on garnering the most impact.

8. aren't the numbers
usually released right after the day they have to report? this month is july 20th (i think), so we probably won't know until then.

11. So the FISA vote = less money = less support from the left and the net roots?

14. So you believe the WSJ rather than Senator Obama?
How instructive.
