A Republican "misstatement" (lie) that needs corrected...
I have heard a couple of Repub spokespeople today say that they investigated and talked about Bush's alleged AWOL for a longer time than they have investigated and talked about Kerry's undeserving medals and self-inflicted wounds. Now I listen to a lot of news since I've been unemployed a big portion of the Bush years (and I'm not in the unemployment numbers) and I can safely say that they have talked about Kerry's Viet Nam record more just today than they talked about the Bush AWOL issue for the entire time it was discussed. Just to clear the record.

1. I heard that a couple of times today too
I think the mediawhores are glad to just let it go because it gives the impression that they really did cover *'s AWOL status. We know that's not true, but many viewers don't.:-(

2. we need to compare this every time kerry's record is mentioned
attack: kerry might not have really earned those medals
parry: bush might not have really shown up for national guard duty

attack: kerry's wounds were self-inflicted
parry: bush's failure to accomplish a required drug test was self-inflicted.

attack: kerry planned on getting out of nam quickly
parry: bush planned on getting out of national guard duty.

equal time!

4. Absolutely wrong
It's not tit for tat, they'd love to make it that. It's a fucking little coward smearing a hero, just like fucking little cowards always do.

3. Let them talk, encourage them to talk
Americans are smarter than Republicans think. It's only the people who would never vote for Kerry anyway. The smear campaign is backfiring - they overdid it.

I do however wonder if it was wise for Kerry to diverge from the original "this is nothing but gutter politics" response ... responding to the substance may make it appear that it actually needs to be countered.

But the more others talk of it, the more ridiculous it appears ... and Americans can see that.
