Election Protection who is working with all 88 BOEs & SOS (who btw is Jennifer Brunner-a very competent Democrat) who make sure the election is fair. There will be teams of attorneys overseeing our elections.
That said, one way DUers can help is to volunteer to work as a poll worker. These workers are one of our an important line of defense to see that elections are carried out fairly. Contact your county BOE for more details.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN VOTER REGISTRATION, ASK THE FOLKS YOU ARE WORKING WITH (IE OBAMA CAMPAIGN, OR A VOTER GROUP) IF THEY ARE RETURNING THE REGISTRATIONS IN A TIMELY MANNER. A BACK LOG OF REGISTRATIONS CAN BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. HAVE THE GROUP SEE IF THE BOEs ARE FALLING BEHIND IN PROCESSING AND IF SO RECOMMEND THAT PERHAPS THEY NEED TO INCREASE STAFFING UNTIL THE ELECTION. HERE IS A PROBLEM NOTED IN LUCAS COUNTY, OH IN 2004 (where 41% of the provisional ballots were not counted-leading one to wonder if they were ever processed):
-October 4, 2004 was filing deadline for new voter registrations. At that point there were approximately 20,000 unprocessed voter registration applications with less than a month before the election. One mail tray containing 4,500-7,000 (estimates vary) unprocessed “Project Voter” registrations were discovered on or about October 18,2004.
