Obama, Bill Clinton meeting said set
Posted: 06:02 PM ET

(CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton are expected to meet in the next few days, according to the chairman of Sen. Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful presidential bid.

Terry McAuliffe said the former president was angered by media reports suggesting he bore a grudge against Obama after the Illinois Democrat’s at-times bruising primary campaign against his wife and did not plan to actively support Obama in the general election.

“He was angry that these ridiculous stories were out here, and these supposed close friends of the president — none of the close friends ever got called,” McAuliffe said, referring to anonymous sources quoted in some stories. “What happens, a lot of time, is people like to pretend they’re close so they can tell the reporters that they’re close, but, you know, they’re just talking.”

1. No Grudge At All
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 07:32 PM by MannyGoldstein
Why does the media make this stuff up?

It's just that a Democratic former President refuses to endorse the current Democratic nominee for President. Probably just wants a few shekels, is all.

Happens all the time. Chill out, people.

I know he came close but I don't think he has uttered the magic words in public either.

14. Is This The "Endorsement"?
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 08:30 PM by MannyGoldstein
From http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1817436,00.html

Former President Clinton said through a spokesman Tuesday that he is committed to helping Barack Obama become president, his first comments in support of his wife's former rival since their primary ended three weeks ago. Former President Clinton said through a spokesman Tuesday that he is committed to helping Barack Obama become president, his first comments in support of his wife's former rival since their primary ended three weeks ago....

Bill Clinton extended an offer to help in a one-sentence statement from spokesman Matt McKenna.

"President Clinton is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States," McKenna said.

All that says is that he sucks less than the alternative. It ain't an endorsement. I expect an endorsement will cost Obama some serious cash.

6. Carter endorsed Obama on June 3rd......

Carter to formally endorse Obama

Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor June 3, 2008 03:30 PM

Former President Jimmy Carter plans to endorse Barack Obama after the polls close tonight in Montana and South Dakota, the Associated Press is reporting this afternoon.

"The fact is the Obama people already know they have my vote when the polls close tonight," Carter told the AP.

Carter, a superdelegate, had remained neutral in the race but has praised Obama and has noted that his children, grandchildren, and their spouses back the Illinois senator.

Obama distanced himself from Carter's recent face-to-face talks with officials of Hamas, which has been declared a terrorist group by the US State Department.

8. that is a written statement by a spokesman
which is exactly, and precisely, what Bill Clinton did. I specificly said public statement by Carter. So yes, I was talking about someone else, Carter not a spokesman.

7. I'm not happy with bill clinton's
behavior during the primaries but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt over the media who gave us 8 years of bush and judy miller beating the drum to bomb Iraq.

The media is Public Enemy number one.

I am glad they will put an end to all the trash journalism that is being spread around.

But, then again, some will never be satisfied.
