ABC anchor, Charlie whathisname misquotes Michelle Obama as per Repub disinformation.
Last night Wednesday, June 18, The ABC News anchorman misquoted Michelle Obama as saying: "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country." Quite consistent with Repub disinformation. Of course, what she actually said was: "For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country.". For you Charlie this could be paraphrased as "...I am especially proud..." which is an entirely different meaning of course, from what your disinformation quote conveys. But of course you knew that, just as you knew you were misquoting her. I hope you won points with your corporate conservative handlers.

For the ABC news anchor man the first rule of real journalists is to get the quote right. Particularly when it is easy to do so. there must have been hundreds of copies of tapes of her statement floating around - even at ABC. Well, what you lost in credibility you gained in Republican friendships. Hope is pays off for you. You've just given another example of why people who want to be informed are flocking in droves away from network right-wing public relations outlets.

Congrats.

2. It doesn't matter whether she said "really" or not.....the point is that
the quote is out of its context, and she has explained this enough. Laura Bush understands this, so why won't ABC "journalists"?

Guess giving Tim Russert a 6 days send off without criticism means that these journalists now think they can say and do whatever, because in the end, they will not be criticized when they go to their grave.

3. His pay off is $8,000,000 annually
That's right he makes 8 million dollars a year. Let that sink in.

Is it any wonder he is sooooo out of touch with working Americans?.?.?

Remember he thought teachers made over $100,000 a year.

Talk about Elitist.

4. Charlie Gibson is just following orders. Period.
He's COMPLETELY out of touch. He thought $100,000 is a normal salary among Americans.

And he also made a **really** unconvincing argument about how lowering taxes increases tax money brought in (during one of the Clinton/Obama debates). Ugh.

At least the mask has slipped this election season.

He must get it in there really deep.

If this makes you mad go to www.congress.org click on Media Guide (see left side of page) it takes you to this page (or just click on following link):

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media/

there you can just enter a name in the appropriate field and it will list matches in the media. Charlie Gibson is among the results if you search for "Gibson". You click on an envelope button and you can enter your own letter telling Mr. Gibson what you think of his partisanship and dissemination of disinformation. They send the letter for you free. Or how much better would it be to send a letter to ABC news Executive Producer, Jonathan Banner?

12. Afaik
.. both versions are actually in play, as there are recordings from two different events - one where she used really and one where she didn't. Can't dig up the proof for it now though. Just avoid playing that card to hard, as it might backfire a bit.

She has since explained that it was in relation to the political process and not the country in general terms - and thats perhaps what should be focused on.

YET...
He went on a national broadcast and lied.

27. How does it attack her?
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 11:08 AM by MonkeyFunk
It's a video of her giving the two speeches.

I'm merely rebutting the claim that she was horribly misquoted. She wasn't - she gave the speech twice, and that's all the video showed.

YOu should be ashamed of yourself of being a hyperventilating nut. NOTHING in that video is an attack on Michelle Obama. It's simply two clips of her speaking. How do you interpret that as an attack?

35. That's a video of John McCain
it doesn't address my question.

How is the video I posted an attack on Michelle Obama? Answer in your own words.

Your accusation is insanely idiotic - I'm giving you a chance to defend it. Don't deflect with a video that has nothing to do with the subject. Use words, sentences, and paragraphs, if you're able, to explain why it's an attack. Bonus points if you can explain how it's a right-wing attack.

36. Exactly. It's an attack video on McCain which is solely comprised of two videos of him talking.
Edited on Sat Jun-21-08 09:09 PM by chascarrillo
The video you posted is an attack on Michelle Obama because it was used to make her look unpatriotic, also using her own words. That's plainly evident and incontrovertible. Both videos only use the words of the intended targets in order to attack them. That's how they're similar.

Extra Credit: Look at the Favorites of the person who posted the video on YouTube. He's a rightwing nut. He's clearly a conservative who posted the video in an attempt to disparage Michelle Obama.

37. It wasn't meant to make her look unpatriotic
it was to show that she said both "proud" and "really proud" in two separate speeches.

And many others posted that video - if the guy who posted it has some favorites you don't like, it doesn't make the video itself a right-wing attack. It's simply video from two different speeches she gave, and it shows that she said both "really proud" and simply "proud".

You're reading far too much into it, and it makes you look silly.

40. You're not really that thick, are you?
I don't care if Hitler posted the video. The video ITSELF is not an attack. It's just clips of her speaking. That's all.

Now you don't LIKE what the clips show, but that doesn't make it an attack.

I posted it simply to demonstrate that those who claim she's being misquoted are mistaken. She's not being misquoted, and the videos prove that one simple fact.

But to call it an attack is just absurd.

41. So the McCain video I linked to isn't an attack on McCain because it's just him speaking?
Edited on Sun Jun-22-08 09:44 AM by chascarrillo
At this point, I'm completely flummoxed. I have no idea why you're carrying on with this assertion that somehow, if a video (or, hell, any medium you choose) only consists of a subject's own words, then it could never be an attack on the subject. That's just ridiculous. You refuse to admit that context has some role to play.

Is this all because you don't want to admit that you're wrong? (And hence, the insults?)

18. She said the quote twice, once with 'really', once without 'really'
Of course it's interesting to see which quote people choose to use. For example, McCain has said that Obama would be a Carter 2nd term and also that Obama would be a Carter 3rd term. Yet they never use the 3rd term quote since it will sound like another senior moment for McCain.
