1. without James Webb - no poll is realistic
Given that Sen. Webb's name is one of the most frequently mentioned. He certainly has at least a 10% to 20% chance of being selected

Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel and Chris Dodd have a combined .00000001% of being nominated for V.P.

2. I agree. I voted Biden but Webb has to be on there and those 3 have no realistic chance
even if it were fantasy Gravel should not be included b/c he is not a democrat.

4. nothing against those three. Representative Kucinich is a hero of mine
and I personally believe he is the one candidate who really addressed the most important issues and whose actual positions on most issues were actually closer to most rank-and-file Democrats

but, he has absolutely no realistic possibility of being selected for the V.P. position. That is reality.

3. General Wesley K. Clark.
Brilliant man with all the right qualities and qualifications to shore up Obama's alleged soft points and bring positive, honest input and advice.

7. Clark or Clarke. I've been pleasantly surprised at how well
spoken Richard Clarke is. And he kind of has a dry, authoritative style that reminds me a bit of, um, Cheney. Except that he doesn't spew bullshit, of course.

8. Clark would help us in the South and other states, and agree with you on
Clarke.

I would add also Petula Clark, the British pop singer. She has a great voice, selects good tunes to record, and speaks several languages. We'll have to tweak the Constitution a bit to qualify her for U.S. citizenship, but if you have a voice like Petula Clark, global citizenship should be automatic, IMO.

9. Yesterday, I took a pal to lunch for her 71st BD...
...and she has been in the past a pretty strong Dem voter. She does NOT like Obama and basically is conflicted about voting for him in Nov. She hates McCain ~~ and at this time it looks likely that she will pass her vote.

HOWEVER: When I mentioned Wes Clark as the VP...that changed her mind. She then most likely would vote for Obama because of him being on the ticket in the VP spot.

This was an almost instant turn around with her. So...later in the day, I emailed another Dem pal of mine ~~ a nearly 70 year old male who lives in Las Vegas who was pretty much of the same opinion as my female pal discussed above.

HMMMMMM: Same reaction as she had ~~ with Wes Clark on the ticket, he became an Obama voter.

 So...seems like Clark might help with the older Dem crowd that had been favoring Hillary?

14. Even if Clark isn't the V.P., he'll most likely get a cabinet position
Make sure to tell your friends this if Obama doesn't choose Clark. :patriot:

it isn't Zell or Holy Joe.

13. You obviously haven't seen him perform in TV interviews
He was somewhere around 8th or 9th on my list about a month or so ago, but he's up to #1 or #2 on my list now. Wesley Clark and Susan Rice are the best Obama surrogates for attacking McCain's foreign policy in interviews.

16. I have seen his interviews...I also remember
his tendency to say unfortunate things during the 2004 campaign. Don't ask me what he said since I don't remember. Maybe he's gotten better since then though.

29. Well, some of that was overblown by the media (imagine that!),
but, yes, he's developed quite a set of political chops having run through the 2004 election cycle.

He hits the ball out of the park when confronted with rightwing media memes, now, though - and no longer allows the likes of Adam Nagourney to twist his words around.

12. Clark or Sebelius as V.P.
with Richardson as Secretary of State. I'm leaning more toward Clark to emphasize national security, but if Obama wants to shore up the economy aspect Sebelius is probably the best choice.

18. Dennis Kucinich. I honestly don't think Hillary will accept the VP spot
even though she's the most qualified and deserves it the most. She'd get blamed for everything under the sun, and she doesn't need that.

Dennis Kucinich would be a great choice. In fact, if the Democratic Party had any balls, he'd be President by now.

Governors:

1. Bill Ritter- Colorado
2. Phil Bredsen- Tennessee
3. Jim Doyle- Wisconsin
4. Joe Manchin, III - West Virginia.

We need to take the battle to the South and West to McSame.

28. No, it's just a gut feeling
Barack Obama never ceases to amaze and surprise us. We are all talking about Biden, Hillary, Kaine, Sebelius, Clark, etc for VP but are not paying attention to our Southern Governors. I am particularly impressed by Manchin and his nomination would send a powerful signal to the Hillarytes, especially in Appalachia...West Virginia is a small state but Obama is about change and symbolism. Besides, Manchin gets along very well with Byrd and Rockefeller. Just my opinion.

31. A governor is a good choice
Governors tend to be more successful at running for President than Senators (Clinton and Dubya come to mind immediately).
