1. Take a cue from the First Lady to be feted. She is graceful, strong,

elegant, and warm all at once.

3. You shouldn't need an invite

I went to Bill Clinton's first inauguration and attended the Midwestern Ball. If you're willing to shell out some $$$, you can get a ticket.

Maybe things have changed and the regular people can't go anymore, but I was able to go in 1993.

Edit: I still have my gown, but wish I could still fit into it!

4. Congresspersons & Senators are allotted tickets to give out ..

to constituents. That was the one "good thing" about having a GOP Congress-critter, I scored 2 tix to the '96 Inaugural!

Keep that in mind!

So there is a good thing about having Gordon Smith as a senator. I'm still voting against him, though. But if he weren't up for election I'd be on the phone to him toute de suite!

6. I share your concerns

especially when it comes to footwear. I need heels that look good but are also comfortable enough to dance in all night. I might as well start looking first thing tomorrow or I'll never find them in time. ;)
