TinFoil: Anyone heard of the Election Day Noon Surprise?
Here's the theory: Conservatives tend to vote absentee and/or earlier in the day than moderates/liberal. Moderates/Liberals/Working Class tend to vote in person and later in the day. So if Tom Ridge comes out with a CODE RED alert around noon on election day - Republicans win if it scares people away from the ballot place.

Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 10:51 AM by calico1
I have always voted early, before going into work. No long lines. I get in and out quick.

Edit--Oh never mind..:silly:

5. noon in which time zone?
if they do it at noon in the east they scare off repub voters in the west, if they do it at noon in the west they missed a lot of Democratic voters in the east.

There is a theory afloat
by someone who has some cred that there COULD be a disruption that would affect only the West Coast. Oregon votes by mail, so they wouldn't be particularly affected. But California has the biggest basket of electoral votes of all, 55, and it's a big prize. Washington is significant too. Stop the end of day procedures and voting in those two states, and that's one way someone could jimmy the election. (Or, George the election.)

9. I've heard it is the other way
Democrats vote early, Republicans vote late.

Of course, I think I saw that on West Wing. ;)

2) Memo: 11/1/04 6:30 pm Looks like we need to review/revise our marketing/management/fiscal/strategic plans, folks. Participation is mandatory and revisions must be submitted by midnight 11/2/04. No exceptions.
3) Memo: 10/29/04 Subject: Travel budget - We have determined that savings are gained through travelling on Sundays and Mondays. In order to gain tighter control of expenses and maximize cost savings opportunities, employees must arrive the day before meetings scheduled on Tuesdays effective immediately. We will immediately reinvest these savings as part of our Building and Enhancing Relationships Initiatives through a dinner-on-us with the client throughout the month of November. The dinner-on-us must take place in the evening after the meeting. Meals prior to the meeting will not be reimbursed.
