Obama needs to slam Keyes for not being Illinoisian enough
Keyes wants to go off on Barack Obama for "not having suffered through slavery"? Fine.

ALAN KEYES IS A RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND!

He needs to broadcast this far and wide. And repeatedly.

"Mr. Keyes," Obama will say, "how can you be sensitive to the needs and concerns of the people of the great state of Illinois when you've lived here two weeks?"

"Mr. Keyes," Obama will follow up, "you berated Senator Hillary Clinton for being a "carpet bagger" by moving to New York to run for the Senate. How, exactly, is what you are doing different from what she did? Except, of course, for the fact that Senator Clinton was a resident of New York for more than three weeks before she started running for office there."

"Mr. Keyes," Obama will follow up, "I as a life-long resident of the great state of Illinois would like to congratulate you on having lived here for a whole month."

Stand outside the DMV office where Keyes goes to get his driver's license and shake his hand, then pull out his own driver's license and show him how long he's had it. (Best to do this AFTER you checked the expiration date...it wouldn't be a good idea for him to pull out an expired license.)

This in addition to the constant litany about Keyes being far outside the mainstream of Illinois values.

1. No, he doesn't.
Obama will win in a landslide if he continues doing exactly what he's doing now.

When former governors Thompson and Edgar both refuse to endorse Keyes, you may as well stick a fork in him, because he's done...

3. I Agree
the people of Illinois are doing their part in reminding Keyes of his carpetbagger status, leaving Obama free to focus on the issues and remain above the fray.

4. Obama is doing fine as he is, no need to do anything else
Keyes will scare even the moderate Republicans from voting for him. Obama will win by a landslide!

6. Isn't the beauty of Obama
that he seems to stay clear of mudslinging, partisan crap and focus on the issues?

7. Never get in the way of a perfectly good train wreck
Keyes has just said that he wants this office--and he's also in favor of removing the citizenry's right to vote for that office.

I'm just standing around with a bag of marshmallows and a couple of sticks...

8. Barack isn't a life long resident of the state of Illinois..
but I agree that it should be pointed out most astutely that keyes doesn't know the State like Obama does.

9. Folks from the Sucker State aren't suckers
As a person with numerous relatives in Illinois, I can assure you that they aren't buying any of Keyes' hokum. They realize that the local GOP can't come up with anyone from Illinois willing to be a sacrificial lamb. What they haven't figured out is how foolish Keyes is making the Repblican Party look.

Here's a thought-take some of Keyes' more outlandish statements and let undecideds know that a viable Republican candidate for Senate is saying things like victims of rape should not be allowed to have an abortion. Suggest that perhaps the GOP really means Going Overboard Politically......
