I find this little tidbit shocking and something I didn't expect:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/02/clinton-summons-top-donor_n_104715.html

"Clinton is known to want Obama to help out black officials who endorsed her and are now taking constituent heat, including, in some cases, primary challenges from pro-Obama politicians."

1. She also wants him to help retire her 20 mil + debt that she ran up trashing him. I find that
even MORE shocking :-) But I'm not at all surprised that certain groups of people are extremely upset at the degrading way she has run this campaign.

17. has there EVER been anything
remotely confirming that speculation? I haven't seen any, yet you guys keep saying it as if it's a firmly-established fact.

22. Does a quote from the OP's link work for you?
Obama and Clinton spoke Sunday night and agreed that their staffs should begin negotiations over post-primary activities, according to reliable sources. In addition to seeking Obama's help in raising money to pay off some $20 million-plus in debts, Clinton is known to want Obama to assist black officials who endorsed her and who are now taking constituent heat, including, in some cases, primary challenges from pro-Obama politicians.

Are you claiming that Huffington Post is spreading unsubstantiated rumors? Do you have any proof to support such a claim?

:D

3. I thought that was the most interesting part
I didn't expect it. But I don't see Obama wanting to hang people out to dry for supporting Clinton out of revenge, either, so maybe as an item on the ledger it makes sense.

6. Actually, if true, I am glad to see her ask for this
Which doesn't mean that Obama needs to agree in every instance. Primarys are part of our Democratic process, but some of those potential challenges may be fueled mostly by bitterness at a Black legislator not backing Obama over Clinton when in fact that particular legislator may have an excellent track record of service to his or her community. Each case ultimately must be judged on it's individual merrits.

Maybe it's just me, but I respect the type of concern and loyalty Clinton may be showing here for some men and women, many of whom she has known for many years, who stood behind her at some risk when she really needed them. I can't fault Obama if he says no to a request like this in one or more cases, but good for Hillary for asking.

8. I think it makes sense. What's telling is that this is proof that on a grassroots level Hillary piss
-ed a lot of people off.

16. It's proof of something, but not what you suggest.
It is proof that a lot of black Obama supporters expect any/every other black person to support Obama, and THEY are the ones going after any African American who dared to support any other candidate, regardless of that person's record of service to his/her community.

And I think that's a damn shame. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying it, but that's the way I see it.

20. I think you are wrong.
Many black folks wondered how the likes of Charlie Rangel and Stephanie Tubbs Jones could support Hillary over Obama, especially after seeing how she ran her campaign. I was one of them. But, that was the primary. If they choose to "openly" support Obama in the GE, I believe they will be re-embraced by their black constituency.

21. I make no claim to be right or wrong.
The facts are that some black Clinton supporters have been threatened with primary challenges, etc., because they didn't support Obama. Whether that was just anger of the moment or not, remains to be seen.

24. Charlie was reduced to wondering out loud how she could say something
so stupid twice, iirc. He's a good man and Tubbs Jones is a great Democrat. They'll be fine.

As quiet as it is kept, I think some of them may have regretted endorsing as early as they did. I have no proof, but just saying....

27. There's no shame in it at all. Everyone in politics expects this kind of
reshuffling. We only really know what they think when they publish their memoirs. lol

5. WHEN is this crap going to stop? I'm an old white lady, and I voted for Barack,
but it's really getting to me that so many are trying to make the Dem party the party of the black race! DAN=MN IT, it's NOT! It's a party of people who care about our Country, the people, and the survival of the middle class!

For God sake people! You complaine about Hillary being too hard on Barack, and you complaine about Barack being to hard on Hillary! NEITHER CANDIDATE said or did the nasty, mean things their supporters have said & done!

This primary contest is almost over, so stop this racial/feminist junk and lets fight to defeat McNuts!

10. "Want" in one hand ...
... shit in the other, and see which one fills up faster.

That's an old, crass saying that seems to fit what Miss Hilly WANTS.

Tough luck. The old black pols that stuck with Hillary ARE going to lose to Obama challengers. New blood is something the party needs. The old pols lose touch and start serving each other instead of their constituents. They line up with each other, and then are shocked when their voters turn them out for someone who hasn't caught Potomac Fever.

Philadelphia's Black Mayor, for example, is young, independent, and widely respected.

12. I really wonder if it would be smart for Obama to insert himself
in some of these primaries. Seems like he could easily make both sides mad. Hope he and his team assess this thoroughly

14. Perhaps if she'd speak to her supporters and apologize for playing the race and gender
cards, then maybe Obama could work with her to help heal the party.

Hillary Clinton needs to take some responsibility for this mess. It's not all Obama's fault.

19. We don't need her apologies, imo
But it's Hillary's responsibility to bring her troops back into the tent. If she did that, the rest I can put down to politics and let it go. The important thing is Obama taking the White House.

Anyone who went to bat for her now needs to make sure they're cool with the new leadership. It's just poltics.
