Hillarians will Have to Vote Obama Because Clinton will be the VP
And thus, the nutsos will have been outflanked and outmaneuvered again.

The best part about it will be that they will consider it Hillary's final victory over Obama, that she "forced him" to put her on the ticket, etc.

She will then be sent off to attend the funerals of foreign dignitaries and the opening of children's museums, etc.

Bank it. It's Obama/Clinton 2008. Every single one of you will have an Obama bumper sticker on your car by August.

5. Hillary's base said they would vote for McCain instead of Obama
therefore, it makes much more sense to put her on McCain's ticket.

Two pro-war Senators on the same ticket. it's a perfect match!

she does want to run with someone who is actually 'qualified' to be President, doesn't she?

Clinton and McCainTo a man, the Republicans I know are pretty much dissatisfied with and disillusioned about Yawn McCain. Who can blame them? There’s not much to get excited about; he’s a total sell-out RINO who the MSM tries to paint as some wonderful “maverick,” mainly because he bows to the liberal media’s wishes and stabs conservatism in the back at the most inopportune moments to stay in their good graces.

I read a lot of conservative blogs and most Republicans express a desire to see Hillary Clinton win the Democrat nomination for several important reasons:

9. I will have to think hard and long if Obama chooses her as VP. It shows he has no principles and
can't stand to bullies. And no, the scales aren't in his favor with me if he chooses her. And don't give me any of the McCain fearmongering. People like Clinton must be purged from the party forever and the political scene forever. If you plan electoral fraud to the scale Clinton does, you don't deserve any place in politics.

18. It is time that the Hillary Herd realize who won....
They are not entitled to the VP any more than they were the Presidency.

I don't think Obama is going to rule her out. However, let's get real here. It is Obama who gets to choose the VP. Hillary is in no position to stake a claim to the VP. She would be very lucky to get the nod, and her herd seems to be oblivious to this fact. They seem to think that unless Hillary is VP all hell will happen.

That's not the way it is going to work. Not this time.

Hillary began this campaign with all the advantages. Somehow, she found a way to lose. Not exactly a convincing arguement that she would strengthen the ticket. She threw the kitchen sink at Obama. Even said McCain was qualified while Obama just had a speech.

I think Obama will select her if there is good reason to. But all this crappy talk coming from HillaryLand is not helping.

33. No...she won't.
Reasons why (copy/paste from another post on this):

Consider the ready-made GOP attack ads. Hillary saying 'I have a lifetime of experience, Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience, and Senator Obaama has a speech he made in 2002.' Tagline: 'Even his own running mate thinks John McCain is more qualified to lead the country.' Trust me when I say that and that alone is more than enough to disqualify her from consideration. And if that (and all of her similar comments on the campaign trail) were not enough, she adds nothing demographically (Obama will not lose New York), addds nothing in terms of appeal to independents (and in fact is a polarising figure whose presence on a Democratic ticket would be repellent to many independents, and would energise a GOP base unenthusiastic about McCain), is viewed by a solid majority of the American electorate as slightly more trustworthy than Richard Nixon, and has a ceiling of 45% favourability with no floor. These qualities do not make for a good running mate, and one would have to seriously question Obama's judgment should Senator Clinton get the VP nod.

51. 17 million people voted for her in a *Primary*
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 10:20 PM by wileedog
14 million people TOTAL voted in the 2004 Primary.

Combined they will have 35 Million people who have already pulled the lever for one of them once and are motivated to do so again. That's insane.

If you extrapolated out those 14 million 2004 primary voters to the 59 million Kerry voters in November, you get a factor of 4.5.

If you used a similar factor this year, that would translate to 157 million Democratic voters in 2008, which would crush anything the Swiftboats could come up with .

Obviously that is not going to happen, but at the same time you seriously maximize the get out the vote factor with these two on the ticket, to the point that Repub talking points are simply going to be drowned out in the tide.

Now I'm no Clinton fan (either of them), and I actually think the REAL drawback here is after the election, when Bill roaming the White House becomes a serious liability, but these are some numbers that are enough to not dismiss the idea out of hand IMO.

57. That's not a solid argument, though.
So thirty-five million people voted DEMOCRATIC in primaries; that's a sign that the Republicans are fucked this year no matter what. The most unpopular administration since Herbert Hoover. The most unpopular President since Nixon. A needless and unpopular war that the majority of the American public are now opposed to. A sagging economy. Skyrocketing food and fuel costs. The incumbent party, in such a political situation, doesn't have a realistic chance.

But why not slam it home for all it is worth?

The fact is if you keep Hill off the ticket most of that 17 million of Clinton supporters are not as enthusiastic . They may not donate. They may not volunteer. They may not drag friends and family to the polls. And yes, some will retardedly vote for McCain or stay home.

Put her on the ticket and you have 35 million rabid dogs. Why not step on their throat?

sincerely and forcefully tell her supporters the reasons why she will be proud to pull the lever for Obama and, if they truly support her ideals, they will do the same.

If she lives up to her promise (I know, I know... but I'm talking about how she COULD bring her supporters on board), she will campaign "her heart out" for him and help him win handily.

74. The problem is
She has already framed this as her being 'forced out'. That damn sexist DNC! The crappy media who has been 'pushing her out since January'! The "I guess its ok to push the girl out!' talking points.

Unfortunately there is a significant portion of her base listening to that crap, and they will either not support the Dems or half-heartedly do their 'hold-their-nose' vote for Obama in November.

She scorched the earth behind her no doubt.

Again, I think we will win with any other sensible VP choice like Webb or Biden or Clark, but I think you really unleash a horde of incredibly fired up people on the Repubs this GE with her on the ticket, the likes of which we haven't seen probably in our lifetime.

I'm just worried if we can survive the aftermath :)
